WOW! The amount of stuff he poured out of the CC (from a VW engine) was incredible! And he mentioned that was from after a 3k mile run (oil change)

Are we getting that much oil in our ToyYoda engines (catch cans)? What's the experience?

A direct injection engine with a 2200 psi fuel pump like my crv or most newer cars combined with excessive blowby like the vw will accumulate a lot in a catch can. A port injection car like the prius should not have high accumulation unless its an oil burner.

I would agree, however, ambient temperature plays a large role. In Southwestern Ontario, Canada, I have very little accumulation in the warmer parts of the year. Once the temperature drops, I need to empty it once a week or else it fills to the top with mostly condensed water.
