    Has anyone seen a post anywhere on the internet of how to clearly install the harness cables? I just recently got my prolong kit, but I'm not ready enough yet to start messing with bolts and screws when I can't find their measurements. I will need to find electrical insulated tools as well...

    Complete installation instructions are on there site including how to take the car apart.
    You don’t need insulated tools.

    I wrapped up my tools in electrical tape and bought and used a cheap pair of 500V insulated gloves from Amazon when I worked on my HV battery

    Like many say, you don't need them if you don't reach out and touch the wrong stuff pretty much on purpose. Which with the Prolong charger may only need you to take off the cover over the contactors, and such, which is even less dangerous since you'd probably have to have the car started with the safety plug reinstalled after you take off the cover to get shocked there.

    But my philosophy is to be as safe as possible within reason. So do whatever you think you need to do to be safe. I'd sure hate it if one of these days some guy started working on his HV battery and ends up electrocuting himself.

    With orange safety plug out your safe in the area of the disconnection panel but you can wear gloves if it makes you feel better.

    Not being an ace in that box I always checked everything with a DVM before touching till I got familiar with everything.

    And take a lot of pictures before and after so if you start second guessing yourself later you can review what you did.

    Great idea with the multimeter! Pictures are also very helpful!

    With the orange safety plug removed there's still a miniscule chance of electrocution in the area of the disconnection panel if you dropped a sharp tool down in where the voltage sensor wires are. Not that I'd think anyone clumsy enough to actually do that would be working on a Prius HV battery since you'd have to actually nick through the insulation on the coated wires for it to become a hazard. But I figured it's worth mentioning since the more we know the safer we become.

    Speaking of dropping stuff down in there, something that helps me is to stick a small magnet onto the sockets and bits I use to remove and install nuts, screws, washers and other such fasteners.

    Hi Calin,
    You said you'd keep us posted with the state of charging and results after that procedure. Have u discharged your battery down to 17V? It worked? what was your battery life expectancy (capacity) after the Prolong procedure?
