Still, if machine shop has the head, and has the valves out for lapping...

Getting the carbon out of the passages is also important.

Here is the piston closest to the timing chain the rest are dry. This one has moisture I'm sure it's not oil so must me coolant right?? What do you guys think?

All that cost money. It depends on what someone wants to pay.
If it's an honest shop, if the valves seat well, they won't do anything to them.

Yeah it’s usually cylinder 1 (that one) that leaks first. One or two. And likely not coincidentally: EGR passages in the intake clog fastest at that end.

So a new headgasket, it ran fine for 24 miles and then the engine bricked? No start, towed in.

I don't think you need techstream. You probably have ordinary misfire codes any reader will pick up.

I would be concerned it may have a broken rod and part of it is clanking the block. A compression test would tell the story if it turns over. Otherwise a borescope could visually inspect it and may be easier than compression.

This is the one I bought for another purpose.

Still starts when gas starts its bouncing around clank clank its like its missing really bad and because of off firing something rocks around he thinks a piece of shiet mayve got caught in egr that was loosened but did not release DOH.. he says the egr valve maybe suspect Or the injectors covered in carbon that he cleaned are now dripping . if that were case once dripped fuel burns up normal run would occur and re occur at next start ? but youd run risk if causing more damage to keep restarting? I told him initia;;y if he saw anything that raised red flags STop lets get whats needed Ive nothing but time.. oh well

Is that nc? I'm in nc with techstream as well. Programing keys was a breeze.

I got the car put back together it had some issue with a injector being stuck open, it threw me for a loop since the car ran fine prior to head gasket job.
Anyway bad injector. now fixed and running. two issues still to fix

1.the car at around 1400 to 1600 rpm the engine feels like its stuttering kind of a pulling sensation like when you go fishing and the fish kinda tugs at your line sorta like that if that makes sense no miss fire code so not sure what's going on there?.

2.timming chain tensioner is leaking it has a new oem toyota gasket and it is very tight I made sure.
thinking of using gasket seal is that a bad idea?

3.going to do a down pressure test what should it be at 150 right???
