Hey Mates and happy New year to all of you (i think you can still say that :-P)

I have problems with my car in the cold, as it wont really defog. Now i tested out and no air comes out from the ventilation noozles on the Windshield (above the instrument cluster).

Now i think some flaps from the heating isnt working correctly. The air comes out in the right temperature to the feet and to the face, just not to the windshield, there comes nothing.

I would like to know, if someone knows, where the flaps for regulating the air circulation in the heating is done and if I could try out some with WD40 or something else.

Would be good if someone has an idea to solve it. I have seen the other posts about it, but they dont really help yet. Its really bad as you cant see for a whole bunch of time.

Thanks for your time and help

    Dominik

In this image, it is labeled AIR OUTLET CONTROL SERVO MOTOR.

By setting up a laptop to run Techstream, you can tell the servo to change positions, and watch the position sensor reading change, which may help with troubleshooting.

The image and other troubleshooting information can be found in the repair manual, of course (more info).

Ok, that sounds like a plan. As I work for a car parts dealer and I deliver to a Toyota dealer, he should be able to help me checking that up I think. Self-Service isnt easy on that I guess.

It's labor-intensive (a few hours to get there) because much of the instrument panel is in the way. That can make self-service an attractive option (tedious though it may be), if the alternative is paying someone else an hourly rate.

Well, I still do have used-car guarantee till July 2021. That should solve the Problem. But testing it can do my dealer here in town first i think. As i know them that shouldnt cost any.

Make sure that you are not trying to "defrost" with the mode set to "recirculate".
That does not work well......but I think the air should still come out of the window vents.

Yea it was on outside-air-mode, so it normally should work. And as you said, air should come out.
