I am at the last step of putting a new used engine and trans into my car, I am stumped about the ground wire that is connected to the chassis on the right hand side of engine bay behind the electrical fuse box on the right hand side of the inverter. It has an eye and a small black box on it, where does the eye connect to?

Please help, I want to start it up!!

If it’s a ground wire you can connect to any solid, grounded point, on either body or engine, fwiw. Piggyback on a small bolt going to body, for example. Check your prospective point for continuity to something substantial on the engine, say with ohm meter or test light.

    Thanks for your help.

The one end is already attached to the body with a bolt, im trying to find out where the other end is supposed to go? My hunch is the inverter or transmission but im not sure. The engine block has a ground on the left hand side of engine bay.

If you can post a photo of the wire and the general area, I'd be happy to look at my engine bay to see if I can locate it.

My phone is dead so cant really get a photo at minute, its a black wire attached to the drivers side strut tower behind the electrical box. It is bolted on with an eye and has an eye on the other end of it that i dont know where it goes. There is a very small black box inline on the wire.

Give me a couple minutes. I have photos for you showing exactly where it connects. From my parts car which has the inverter removed. Very clear photos.

So looks like it goes to the transmission! Im going to go see if I can get it in but looks like I may have to take the inverter off again to get at it, good job I never put coolant in it yet!

Thank you so much for doing that, I really appreciate it, will let you know if she starts when I get that wire on and fill up the coolant.

    I feel for you.

Man when you look at the electrical diagram there’s an amazing amount of grounds with multiples coupled together everywhere very difficult to keep track of.

Got engine going, fired right up on 2nd attempt, 1st try I forgot to put the safety plug back in.

red triangle went away second time I started it and I got 2 codes

1- PoAoD one for hv Interlock circuit high, I figured this may have been set from the start without safety plug.

    2- P1150 coolant path clog.

I cleared both codes and been filling up with coolant, I think I’ve got most of the air out. Now I have a pending code P1116, another coolant clog code, I am thinking once all the air is out these codes will stay away, time will tell.
Thanks again for your help with the wire!

Glad to hear you got it running!! You timed it perfect for your request. That poor little parts car went to crusher heaven this morning. Had to make room for my newest acquisition project. 2008 Driftwood pearl with C1345/1368 linear valve DTCs. 275k miles, but extremely good body and leather interior. All dealer records every 5k miles through about 230k miles. Original owner traded it in around 274k miles, dealer sold it as-is to my seller in August 2020, who got the C1345/1368 a month after purchase. Same dealer then wanted $2k+ to replace ABS assembly. He said f no and put it up for sale. I saw it last weekend and couldn't pass it up. Drove it home to Columbia from Myrtle Beach with no problems. Brakes were a bit grabby below ~25mph, but it's always fun to have another project. Swapping out the exhaust, and selling the oem will more than pay for the car and put cash in my pocket. Fix the brakes and probably sell the car.

Sounds like a good one, where do you sell the exhaust? I was thinking of doing that with mine, although mine was setting codes.

Again, perfect timing with the question. I just posted about that subject in your other thread, without even realizing it was yours!!

Since the 'start a conversation' isn't working for me, I made a post under your profile with his contact info. He's a recycler, so he doesn't care if it's coding or not. All he cares about is if it's OEM with GD3 and EA6 stamps and the internals are intact.
