Homelink Mirror Question

Confirmed on my 2006 (both my parents had one, and i programmed them in back when i was still in Ohio).

There's a few more steps than for non-rolling code ones, but it's all in the manual (and duplicated on here multiple times, if memory serves)

 

Same here. I programmed mine in. It does take a few more steps, and you need to push a special "learing" button on the opener itself.

 

Yes, it works with my parent's, but it didn't work at first using the instructions on the garage door opener motor itself (using the "learn" button"). I had to read the instructions of the opener to find that there was a second method that did work.

My problem may not be a problem with your opener, just giving you a suggestion in case it doesn't work.

Yes. My parents and sister have Chamberlain (also OEMed as Craftsman) rolling code openers for both their garage doors, and my parents' gate is another brand. I have my HomeLink programmed into all three, and it works like a champ, despite the fact that I only use it on them every six weeks or so. You program in a transmitter into one of the HomeLink buttons (preferrably while the car is far enough away so it doesn't trigger the opener), then while holding down the HomeLink button with the car in range of the opener, press and release the programming button on the opener. I had to push the button on my parents' door three or four times to get it to take, but after that it's been fine. The manual has pretty good directions on how to program the HomeLink to emulate the transmitter.

If you notice, he didn't ask how it was done, but if it actually worked. That sort of information wouldn't be in the manual.

I followed those instructions. It took a few tries (and lots of frustration) due to the confusing language, but the Homelink unit in my Prius does work with both my of rolling code garage door openers, just as stated in the owner's manual.

True, but in my case, following the manual didn't help me as the Learn button trick didn't work. It only means that on that one model of opener you had to use another method (as shown in the opener's manual). If I didn't have that manual, I'd have to say it didn't work.

By his question it looks like Charles' 2004 doesn't have Homelink now. Perhaps a better way to phrase the question would be, "My upcoming 2007 will have the Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror with Homelink. As my 2004 doesn't have that, has anyone here confirmed how well the Homelink will work with "rolling code" garage door openers?" That way it's clear that the manual say it does, but in the real world how effective is it.

The manual also says BT phones work, but not every phone does the same thing.

For the record.

I have never initiated a PM exchange with Charles Suitt, as his above post would have you believe. He did send me a few PMs to let me know that he does not read any of my messages on the board (why in the world would he go to the trouble of writing me that?) Interestingly, each time was right after I had some fun at his expense, so he must be reading at least some of my messages. Yes, I did reply to his private messages. I told him that I am not posting for his benefit and that I could not care less about what he reads on Prius Chat.

Dude, chill. i mean seriously, it's not like we all haven't seen everyone else's posts (they are public record, after all) and formed our own opinions of them based on what sort of responses we felt were appropriate and what weren't.

All you're doing here is acting childish and basically making yourself look like an a$$.

 

The instructions below, found on the web at (http://www.overheadgaragedoors.net/holder.php?p=8#p200015), worked with my Liftmaster without requiring a second person!

Programming for Homelink® System

Note: Some vehicles may require the ignition be turned on or the vehicle actually running to program the Homelink® transceiver.

To program a rolling code compatible Homelink® system, please follow these steps.

Press and hold the two outside buttons on the Homelink® system until the LED starts to blink, release buttons (**Clears memory**)

Press and hold the desired Homelink® button and the transmit button on your rolling code transmitter at the same time until the Homelink® LED changes from a slow blink to a rapid blink. (Your Homelink® system is now programmed)

Locate the learn code button on your garage door opener. (These are located under the light cover or on the rear panel depending on model)

Press the "learn" code button on the garage door opener, a red (or yellow/orange) LED will illuminate or start to blink depending on model. (***You will have 30 seconds to complete programming***)

While the LED on the garage door opener is "ON" or blinking, return to the vehicle and press the pre-programmed Homelink® button 4 times. (Or until the garage door operates).

If you have problems programming, you might try these steps with the vehicle running.
