So after a few weeks of thinking about it, I added a bass tube to my 2015 Prius over the weekend. The pic below is actually outdated as I flipped the tube around after re-reading the manual (that suggested the speaker should face toward the back).

All I can say is that it’s been positively awesome. Spent all of $55 to get it done too ($40 for the tube off of offer up and $15 for the wiring kit). Took me about three hours to get it done but more than half of the time was spent staring and the car working on my next move. I’m no expert but the installation, especially now that the cables are in the back (and the ties are wrapped around a few times) is pretty seamless.

That’s more than I can say for my mat that no so clean. Anyway, best money I’ve spent in a while. Loving the full sound I’m getting. Think I have the adjustments about where they need to be as well.

Correct. This is a powered subwoofer.

I had one of these types of subs before. Two obvious drawbacks are it takes up valuable space and is visible.

I now use a spare tire mounted powered sub that solves those issues.

Thanks. Neither of those are too big of an issue for me. Don’t need the space that often and can remove it if carrying something large. And the visible thing doesn’t matter to me at all. Me and passengers don’t see it when we’re driving and even people walking by wouldn’t notice unless they intentionally walked over and looked in the trunk. At that point, anything I’m the trunk is fair game if you’re concerned about theft. And, I can always pull the cover over too.

Juan, What wires did you use for the speaker out, power and remote wires from your head unit? Are you still running everything else factory?

That looks really good I took a different option because I have my girls in softball so I did the jbl basspro hub the sub that goes into the spare tire and I love it. It’s also a powered sub and I keep all my space.

ahhhh bass tubes brings back memories to my first car that had two of them and I thought they were the shit! lol, they do get the job done so any bass is better than no bass imo.

I too am curious about the wiring.
What and how did you tap into the stereo?

I have used amp'd tubes before and like the betterment of sound they offer.
Appearance, decreased space, well "that is what it is".
Congrats, and enjoy your John Paul Jones bass lines :)

Hey Evoking, I drive a Gen 2 Prius and noticed you drive a 2010. A Gen 3 also has as an extra trunk above the spare tire. Does the JBL hub fit underneath?

Do you have it installed on top of spare tire and under the second trunk?

Or did you remove the spare tire and mounted jbl basspro hub in its place?

If so, how does it sound with second trunk on top of it? Plus do you have stuff in the second trunk and how does that sound?

No I didn’t remove my spare tire and also I didn’t remove the cubby above the spare tire I kept it all and the sound is amazing don’t get me wrong a box would sound better but because I need all my room because 1 kid plays softball and the other soccer I need all the room I can get. This sub sounds really good. I previously had the infinity sub the one that goes under the seat but it didn’t have the bass I wanted so I got the jbl one and love it I’ll try to post a picture or video so you guys can see it.

Nice! Thanks for the photo. I’m pull the trigger and pick one up. I’m go with the 8 inch Rockville Rockghost.

Do you vibrations or rattles from the trunk?

Oh and by the way i recommend you buy a nylon bag and put your jack tools in it because mine use to be on top of my spare tire but now I leave them in my cubby or at home because of my sub but that’s really up to you.

Great recommendation. I was thinking about a bag for the Jack. I moved the whole unit into the cubby. It’s going to vibrate/rattle like that. What bag do you use? Pic? Or tag shopping link? Maybe I should punch in car jack bag on search.

I’m planning to wrap Jack and leave in cubby. Btw I have oil and same first aid kit. Lol
