I’d rather not just get an OEM one, something maybe more performance related and less expensive?

oemvehicleparts has the piping and muffler for $480 shipped:
    https://www.oemvehicleparts.com/oem-parts/toyota-muffler-and-pipe-1743037a70?c=Zz1leGhhdXN0LXN5c3RlbSZzPWV4aGF1c3QtY29tcG9uZW50cyZsPTEwJm49QXNzZW1ibGllcyBQYWdlJmE9dG95b3RhJm89cHJpdXMtcHJpbWUmeT0yMDIwJnQ9bGUmZT0xLThsLWw0LWVsZWN0cmljLWdhcw%3D%3D

    Cheapest OEM Toyota I found.

    so, any recommendations??

Your car is almost new. What happened to the system it came with?

Unless something destroyed it, the best and cheapest I know of is the one presently installed. Save the money for something you will eventually need to replace -- in 10-20 years.

long story but what looked like a frozen chunk of snow in the middle of the highway partially crushed the pipe when drove over it. thought I’d clear it. Muffler and tip are fine. Extremely upset but calm now. So asking if anyone has done any exhaust mods for that reason.

    Yes....
    ...Don't!

    Couple of pretty good reasons:

    1. If you sell your car with a non-OEM exhaust installed it's going to lead to speculation. Was the car wrecked? Did the owner trash the original exhaust because they don't know how to drive? Was it rode hard and put up wet? Auto crossed?

    2. "More Performance" for closed loop fuel management systems usually only means "more noise" which leads to questions generated in #1 above. Sometimes....if you REALLY "tune it up" you will also reduce fuel efficiency AND generate more noise.
Read up on Atkinson cycle engines to see why this especially true with YOUR car.

    3. If you really have to scratch this itch, get a bolt-on cat-back system but find a way to keep the OEM parts so that your car won't look quite as sketch when you trade it in.......or?
Go to an automotive parts house and get one of those exhaust tips that you put on with a set-screw.
All of the class and performance at a fraction of the price.

OK.....I just read your latest post which sorta validates #1 above.
See if an exhaust shop can repair the pipe while verifying that there's no under-hull damage. This is especially true if there was no accident report or insurance claim. You can replace any plastic fairings that were scrubbed off by buying them on-line or used.
MAKE SURE that there are no other "mods" present under the car.

If your vehicle's vin # was placed on an accident report or you filed a claim, then you're already driving a "previously wrecked" car as far as the world is concerned.....so you'll be free to go wild with the mods!!

    Good Luck!

Thanks. No damage underneath just the pipe at its lowest point. It’s significantly narrower. I was also thinking about just having an exhaust shop fabricating new piping and welding it to my OEM muffler?

A decent exhaust shop can cut out the damaged section and weld in a replacement in no time, and probably not for all that much money. Get a couple of guestimates - or just go with the shop with the best street cred.
    BEWARE internet ratings.
They're a lot like poll results.
    VERY malleable.

    Money is tight.
There are probably some good shops that would be happy to have the work.

    Good Luck!

Glad to hear. Oddly the car doesn’t sound or drive any different. Would kind of think a crimped pipe would hurt power but it didn’t seem too. But not pushing it til fixed.

I am talking calmly now about not, but I was anything but when it happened. We had 28” of snow over weekend and there are chunks of snow and ice everywhere. I just didn’t see this one, too much traffic.

I once ran over a COUCH in the middle of a major highway. I swerved but passenger side ended up running it over. It was already in like 4 pieces but it was a random couch just sitting there. Couldn’t believe it. And I remember suddenly my exhaust got extremely loud right away, so I knew what happened. This was back circa 2008 in a 1994 Nissan Sentra. Lol.

Amazing, all the junk on the roads.

Ditto to @ETC(SS) first comment on shops. My exhaust shop experiences were long ago, but even then they could bend and weld in a new piece in no time flat. I think I'd do that and not even think about the dealer unless the shop says you need to go to the dealer for something special, which seems unlikely.

The computer will adjust how the engine runs to keep things in spec, which is why performance parts need a tune to work, and the cat probably is the most restrictive point in the exhaust.

*^ Makes sense. You guys are so knowledgeable. :) :) thanks.

Cheapest OEM I found is a brand new piping and muffler for $480 shipped on oemvehicleparts.com.

I see eBayers selling the latest Prius gen muffler itself w/ the tip for $250. That would be great if I can even get $150 for it to offset the costs. Maybe someone needs one. Who knows?

I have to figure out what to do. You guys see this was the LAST thing I ever expected to be dealing with, with this car. I wanted tinted windows some 16” darker wheels and maybe some TRD side skirts - did not expect to come across a boulder of ice and snow and lead me to thinking about exhaust mods.

Btw pic of the muffler. So upset.

it’s just a car I tell myself, it will be OK:

    Muffler came off the hanger:

Ready to see what the giant ice/boulder/snow thing did when I went right over it? It’s cringe worthy:

look at the crimp on the right side, and the left side is smooshed. Ugh. Why me

OUCH!!!! Now I don't feel so bad about this morning's "cold" weather here. 37º when I got to work and only got 3.0 miles/kWh rather than the typical 5+. No chucks of ice; just some light windshield scraping.

That looks like it must have been a nasty surprise.

I thought the wheel fell off. Like the rear passenger wheel. It was so loud. I had a split second chance to see it in the road as bunch of trucks ahead of me swerved around. The trucks cleared it, but I swung around it and somehow ended up with it going under the side of my vehicle, like the around the rear passenger tire.

saving grace: I MISSED IT WITH THE FRONT END. We know how low the front ends are on our cars. I would rather replace some exhaust piping than the entire front bumper.... if there is a silver lining ...

Doh! I spoke too soon. They want $288 for shipping which is almost $440. Only $40 less than the price oemvehicle.com wants for a brand new one shipped :( I’ve bought from them before and they are quite good.

I’ll keep checking. Was wondering if anyone here put on their own aftermarket exhaust for whatever reason and had the OEM one sitting taking up space. Willing to drive 4 hour radius of PA/NJ.

Check auto salvage yards in your local area. If they don't have it, they can usually find it.

You hit an object on the highway. That may be an insurance claim on your comprehensive coverage if the final cost runs high enough and your deductible is low enough.
