Fortunately (or not), I have been sick enough with this for the last couple days that driving isn't an option. As for the restrictions they are very real. If something happens to you like an accident and EMS responds and is exposed.. you are in trouble and possibly liable. We just had a bulletin about this from our EMS. They were also stopping people during the lock down. My employees since our plants are primary food plants were some of the first to be declared essential, papers had to be carried in your cars at al times. I was stopped twice after hours. So yea they check. Further, I am relatively well known, but retired out of local politics. In the age of social networking a picture of the quarantined guy driving around would spread pretty fast. Once again I have not felt well enough to do much but launch SAP and approve a handful of projects. Lost my voice so now I am off team viewer and audio call. Perhaps not such a bad thing but annoying. Hopefully this will start backing off and I will not need to sleep 20 hour out of the day.

As for the 12 volt charger, didn't see it was an option on 21 prime. I am however looking at comma AI.

what do you mean by 'not an option for the prime?

12v battery is under the hood btw. easy enough to disconnect the neg cable, or put a maintainer on it.

It was not offered as an option when I ordered the vehicle.

A 12 V battery tender has NEVER been offered as a factory option, not with any common make or model.....ever......as far as I know.

OK, I tend to forget about the "hospital capacity" part of the problem.

BUT.....if the area you will be travelling IN does not have a problem with available Intensive Care capacity......then there is no logical or realistic reason to have a complete lockdown. Except to prevent those who really are stupid from ignoring the rules, that is.

In that case, the enforcement efforts would be better spent by preventing big gatherings.......since the "real" health experts all pretty much agree that the big 3, masks, wash, distance, are HIGHLY effective. Maybe just as effective as the vaccine without those extra precautions.

SO, assuming that your area really does have justification for a complete "lockdown", what standard will be used to relax it ??

Toyota does offer a built-in charger option for the 4Runner, looks very integrated too. Still, you better be sitting down when you hear the price, something like $650 USD, that’s installed at least, with a capped AC outlet in the front bumper. You might want to take over that last bit though, or discuss location with them.

    Addendum:

My bad, might just be Toyota Canada. One link, though I think I saw more detail somewhere else. The use the euphemism “trickle charger”, but I suspect it’s more than that:

Comfort+ Heating Accessories - Toyota Canada

Might be more than just 4Runner; I see Highlander mention too. Seems like they’re just rolling this out.

Another link, shows “trickle” charger again, and in this one I entered 2021 Prius for vehicle:

    Accessories - Toyota Canada

(Bottom of page in above link has pdf "user's guides" with more info, for the block heater, cabin heater and battery charger.)

    Code words:

    Toyota Comfort +

This link, from a dealership, makes mention of temp adjustment on the battery charger:

    I said "factory" option.
A really LOT of things are available as a "dealer installed option".
