I just bought a 2018 Prime Premium (18K miles) for 20,480 from Vroom plus taxes and fees totaling a little over 22.2K. Carvana gave me 9,133 for my 2013 Prius C (3) and Vroom was only going to give me 6.7K. So I sold my C to Carvana.

I found that Primes on Vroom compared to Carvana are anywhere between 500 to 1500 cheaper depending on year/mileage. You owing 23K and looking to sell at that price is a bit higher than both Vroom and Carvana, you're closer to a dealership's price.

Best places to list is Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for private seller pricing and haggling from there.

Yes, of course. I've just always been that type of person to have exactly what I need and nothing more/less. Having a vehicle that does everything I need has been a goal. My 4Runner came close (except MPG). The Prime is the same (except towing).

The harsh reality is you owe more on your 2018 than it’s worth. You can purchase a 2021 LE for less than the amount as you owe once rebates and tax credits are factored in.
If you take an LE for an example:
    MSRP $30k
    Toyota rebate:$4k
    Dealer discount: $2k
You’re already at $24k (before taxes/fees/etc) before any state and federal rebates are factored in. Nobody in their right mind will pay $23k for your vehicle when a new one can be had for not much more. I’m not trying to be insensitive; just stating the reality of the situation.

In my experience of selling a low mileage vehicle a few years ago, there is some extra money that people will pay for low miles but it’s not going to be as much as you are hoping for.

I wish you the best selling your vehicle for top dollar.

Okay to clear things up,(OP here) I got the fine details figured out and can provide better information for those who are curious.

I have a 2018 prius prime premium that I bought for $25k after discounts and such from carvana with 38,000miles

I now owe $23k and have 46,000 miles.

I was so excited to buy the car I went all in and decided to pay a littler high, and I liked it for the first month. Then I got supper annoyed with everything. And passionately hate this car. To the point I've thought about just filing bankruptcy to get rid of it and drive an old beater truck with no ac or auto windows etc. That's how fed up I am with this car.

I was coming from a 2017 prius two loaded and I thought it was boring, yet it was the best car in my life.

    So yeah.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll check out vroom and to keep checking carvanas prices every few days.

I'd not recommend destroying your credit and upending your entire life to get rid of a used car you no longer like.

I hope he is just exaggerating on this. Bankruptcy to ruin his credit for the next 10 years and beyond for a measly $7000. That's just ridiculous. I don't understand how one can hate 2018 PP so much when he loved 2017 Prius Two??? Basically the same car, except PP has more features and a larger battery with plug-in capability by sacrificing some cargo space and a spare tire. Something is amiss.

Yes, agreed on this one. Would be better to just sell it on facebook for what you can and pay the difference or simply make higher payments for a year and then sell it. Seriously, bankruptcy is a 10 year commitment.

Let's not make any assumptions about how large or small of a loss someone can sustain before bankruptcy.

For some people, a $2.5k "oops charge" to get out of a car they don't like is enough to ripple all the way to a bankruptcy filing.

I'll admit, I saw the post about disabling the engine in cold weather mentioned by @bisco so I raised an eyebrow. When I don't like a car I don't (usually) hack it; I wash it and sell it.

There's nothing wrong with the car at all, the exterior I love so much. But the interior I hate. I have all leather and don't car for it, and the biggest killer for me is the big screen. It's slow and I can't do anything on it. It is more annoying than helpful.
Also the 2 seats in the back vs 3 is kind of dumb to me. I opened up the seats and saw there is nothing under them, should just put the 3 seats in the back.

And my prius two had bsm and parking assist where this fancy expensive car doesn't and that pisses me off. Makes me hate the car knowing I paid so much and it can't tell me if a car is coming as I back up?

Also not having a rear wiper sucks.

And finally the heater is a joke. My car won't be 75°F Inside till after 10-20 min of driving with ICE. The last prius got hot super fast and it was so much easier to change the heat controls and then down the radio and such.

The phone charger(i hacked it and made it samsung fast charger, check my posts) is great, and everything else is the same.

So yeah, I just don't like the big screen that takes forever to do anything. It's embarrassing to say the least

Well, I have to agree with you on most of your points. Yeah, no BSM and Parking assist except on the highest PP trim sucks. But I would not want to pay $4K more for it. But I too hated Softex pleather and 11.6" screen. My solution was to trade-in my 2017 PP Premium to 2020 PP LE. It came with cloth seats, a smaller more functional 7" screen, and 3 seats on the rear. It did not come with BSM and Parking assist nor the rear wiper. But I can live with it since it did not cost me anything to trade-in 3 years old car for a new one. BTW, I also agree with the inefficient heat pump in a very cold climate when it really needs the heat. That's why I switched to HV mode as soon as I started a car for my winter morning commute when the temperature is usually single-digit or colder. What it makes up are the efficiency in gas milage and EV ranges. I am sure PP gets better gas mileage in winter than a regular Prius.

I am not sure about the incentives in your area but the 2021 Prius Prime Limited makes up for the five seats, BSM, parking assist, and more. The large-display head unit is the same but it is little less buggy than those of the previous model years. I don't think Toyota has any head units that are fast. Perhaps you can connect your iPhone to the large head unit, as it comes with Apple CarPlay now. 2021 also has improved handling over 2020, and TSS is updated to 2.0, which is far superior to TSS 1.0.

The 2022 model may possibly get BSM and parking assist on all trims, but you will have to wait until December to get good rebates. It's very likely that the larger head unit with no Android Auto manufactured by DENSO will stay for another couple of years through the model year 2023, which will probably be the last model year of the current Prius Prime generation, which seems to be going through a seven-year span, but you never know. The smaller head unit is manufactured by the child company DENSO TEN (formerly FUJITSU TEN), which also manufacturers the ECLIPSE brand. DENSO makes larger head units using the same LCD display with Android Auto for Subaru etc., and 2022 may also bring a surprising update for the larger head unit.
