I'm having trouble cleaning my windshield. Every time I do it I get streaking. I think what I'm doing wrong is using paper towels for the cleanup. So I just got special towels and Invisible Glass cleaner. Any suggestions as to how to correct this problem? FishHawk

You might use crumpled newspaper with your glass cleaner. :)

most newspaper nowadays use Soy ink or a dervitive and it causes streaks. Most paper towels use a clay based absorbant embeded into the paper it also causes streaks. Best is a micro-fiber towel and turn it frequently. When you wash the towel use a dish detergent as most laundry detergents use brightners and they can cause streaking. Also don't dry your micro-fiber towel in your dryer as most people use dryer sheets to soften their clothes and towels, and it can causes streaking. I've had good results with Stoner Invisible Glass or my current favorite RAIN-X Glass Cleaner and clean micro-fiber towels.

I'll second the recommendation for Invisible Glass and micro-fiber towels. Since starting to use this combination last year I've never had cleaner windows.

    Cheers,

A fourth for Invisible Glass and microfiber cloths. I tried the newspaper thing, but I guess the Orlando Sentinel uses some streaky ink.

:) After about 1½ years of struggling to accomplish a really CLEAN windshield (and the other glass) even using "Invisible Glass" spray and trying newspaper, paper towels ,etc. I finally bought the "Glass Wizard" semi-triangular pad on a 14" handle which has two micro-fiber covers and an additional nylon net cover to help clean bugs and the like. This device, together with "Invisible Glass" spray get me absolutely crystal-clear glass.

The only source for the "Glass Wizard" I've found is ordering online [Google "Glass Wizard"]. It makes cleaning the inside of the windshield and the hatch glass much, much easier to clean what with its swiveling head and microi fiber cover. As I recall, I paid $9.95 plus shipping for the "Glass Wizard." I just throw the micro-fiber cover into my wash after its use. And..NO.. I do not work for Glass Wizard or Invisible Glass.

It's been posted before that Bed, Bath, and Beyond carries the Glass Wizard in-store. I can confirm this is correct as I picked up a couple more this weekend.

<_< Bed, Bath and Beyond in Dallas does not stock the "Glass Wizard." Checked that before ordering online.

I use regular car towels which I wash in my washer and dry without adding any FABIC SOFTENER because that adds chemicals tot he towel. I then use windex and clean my windows when they are cool and out of the sun-usually in the garage in the morning. Never have a streak inside or out. I guess the ithert thing worth mentioning is if your windows are really dirty you need to clean them mnore than once and use a clean towel and don't skimp on the cleaning product. Mine are always crystal clear- kind of a pet peeve for me. I clean them twice per week.

Here's something I saw in Asia: clean the windshield with orange juice and a wrinkled newspaper.
    Worked great!

Get yourself a spraycan of "Invisible Glass" and a large chamois cloth.

You won't have an issue after using it on the entire windshield, both sides.

I guess if its good enough for hotels its good enough for a windscreen - Vinegar !.
Use a damp cloth or sponge - add a little vinegar and clean with a newspaper or cloth.
I didn't believe it until I tried it

Try glass cleaner and a coffee filter. That is what they use in the food service industry. Viniger and water with a coffee filter is the least expensive.

i do my windshield at night, because that's mainly when i notice the streaks. that way i can be sure i got all of them off the glass. did that a couple nights ago along with a couple coats of rain-x. used a microfiber cloth and invisble glass on the inside and outside, then did rain-x and removed haze with invisible glass again and just a plain old t shirt rag.

Coffee filters are a great way to go streak-free. I second that idea.

You have something on the windsheild that needs a solvent to remove it. Clean the glass well with Invisible Glass then wipe the glass with a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth. Then do a final clean with Invisible glass. Never use alcohol on after-market tints.
