    Where are you getting the battery capacity data ? Yes I’m also still at home and getting bored. Waiting for clearance to go back into the plants. Lol

    Thanks for sharing, Jerry, but aren’t there two entries there (Feb 13 & June 20) showing higher than “yesterday” (Feb 21/21)? Or am I missing something?:confused:

    I was actually wondering something similar with my 2014 PiP, since it seems the car is only taking 2.3 or 2.4 KWh on a charge any more (approx 14-16km range), where I know it used to pull 2.6-2.8KWh when it was younger. :( 0.3-0.5KWh may not seem like much, but it is 10-20% decrease, which is not insignificant. Attached are a couple screenshots from my ChargePoint, unfortunately the History view doesn’t show the KWh (you need to click on each entry per my second screenshot), only the equivalent range and cost based on input data (and the range shows low since I have the default vehicle is the Leaf, which is presumably less efficient...)

    Anyway, I digress, I know this is not the PiP forum. ;)

    Yes, you are missing the fact that I might have driven as much as two miles without the ICE at the end of my drive, which sucks down the battery way below where it says that the range is depleted. There have been plenty of times where the range goes to zero and I'm still a mile or more from home. If the ICE isn't needed (which is generally true in my immediate neighborhood), it'll keep on pulling from the HV battery capacity for quite some time. OR, on the other hand, it may be that it ran out of juice 10 miles before I got home and I've been driving with the ICE running as I near home, so it's charging the battery above where it would say no more EV range, and then I decelerate and charge it some more before I stop and plug in.

    So, when I start the charge on a depleted battery, it might have an actual SOC anywhere from 12%-15% or something like that. I don't know the exact percentages the car uses to trigger the EV/HV transitions, but I think you get the idea. The amount it takes to fill it depends on how empty it is.

    I know exactly what it is because it's on my bill. We pay 11.7 cents/kWh here. So rounding it to 6kWh for a full charge comes to $0.70 and a couple tenths for a 6 kWh charge. That usually gets me about 30 miles. Sometimes more and sometimes less. The car's lifetime average says 5.0 miles/kWh so those numbers match. That's 2.34 cents/mile on average for electricity if I have to buy all of it. But I get quite a bit for free at work. Also, I'll be getting solar power in a couple weeks. Figuring 20 years to pay it off brings it down to an estimated 8.2 cents/kWh for electricity. After that, should I live so long, it's essentially free.

    Yup, that makes perfect sense and I agree, I was only pointing out that you suggested it was the largest charge draw, where the numbers didn’t seem to support that. ;) I do agree though, that draw will have a small amount of variability to it, depending how much of the HV portion was dug into when plugging in. (y)

    Half way to the 100k mark when I got home from the grocery store this morning. I started out with 22,937 two years and two weeks ago. No malfunctions so far and still really happy with it.

    (The 199.9 mpg is due in part to stupid programming by Toyota and in part to a stupid long press of the trip meter button my me a few months ago. So it doesn't reflect the 1999 road trip of 6,000 miles.) As of February 20, 2021 (my last fill-up) my actual calculated mpg is 140.7. Total fuel cost per mile including electricity I paid for is just under 2.9 cents per mile.

    I see posts here and on Facebook almost daily asking about a weird noise. I almost posted one myself, but I went into pit bull mode tracking it down. If you don't believe what I found, I don't blame you.

    A couple weeks ago, I started hearing a sort of high pitched sound somewhere between a buzz and a whistle that was pretty faint. It sounded like it was coming from behind the 11.6" touch screen, but sometimes seemed to come from everywhere. So I started testing and hunting.

    • First, I determined it was not speed related and finally discovered that it happened any time the car was not off. It did it in all gears, moving or not. It also did it in ON and ACC modes. Power it off and the sound would stop.
    • I popped the hood and didn't hear it from anywhere in the engine bay.
    • I took out the glove box and put my ear in there. Not as loud. Getting colder.
    • Hmmm. Sometimes it seems to come from anywhere so maybe it's in the traction battery area. Nope. Much quieter back there.
    • I listened at the battery fan intakes and didn't hear it there.
    • I have a rubber tray liner on the Qi charger so I can put stuff there without it sliding around. One of the things there is a 4-port USB hub that plugs into the 12V socket. I lifted all that out of there and saw that the Qi charger was on. No reason for it to be on and no idea how it got turned on, but turning it off didn't help.
    • BUT! Then I put the rubber tray liner back in there. Then I picked up the USB hub and that's when the noise stopped. After some experimenting I found that, if I squeezed the hub's power switch gently, the noise would stop.
    Hooda thunk it!!! I am sure glad I didn't start another strange new noise thread and I'm super glad I didn't give up and ask a dealer. :LOL:

    So, let that be a lesson to ya. Just because it sounds like your car is making a strange noise, doesn't necessarily mean the car is making a strange noise.

    I had a similar “weird noise” thing with my PiP a couple years ago that I couldn’t figure out for several weeks. Sometimes, when I would shut my car off then open the door and would hear a couple beeps. Kinda like when the fob battery was low, but it wasn’t...

    After pulling my hair out for a while trying to figure out what caused the beeps, I realized it was linked to the 175w power inverter I had left plugged in, after I had been using my laptop in my “mobile office”. Seems there was just enough residual power going back into the 12v to make the car think it was in accessory mode for a few seconds, and the beep was the car reminding it was still on... Of course, as soon as I unplug, no more problem. I make sure now I no longer leave it plugged unless I am actively using it. Lol.

    Gotta watch those accessories. ;):LOL:

    A little off-topic but one of my former managers had been a micro-Vax server admin. Many years later it was decided to retire a server but they could not locate it. My manager got involved and knew where it had been. It did not appear to be there but the. They found the network cable. They followed it to where it disappeared into a wall. They had built a wall around the server, apparently and it just kept working all those years.

    Wow all this to get one side up to rotate or play with tyres I use 2 torrin red 4 ton Jax one sits on each side of car . So I don't have to move . Left side up first Jax is about 8 inches or so from rear jack point. 8 Jack the car str8 up till both wheels on that side will move . Blast lug nuts off with DeWalt elec gun . Play around on tyre changer and balancer . Return wheels. And im on gravel usually. Usually don't want to turn AC on in shop.

    This sure looks out of the blue. You mean post 554 back on. page 28? That had nothing to do with rotating tires. It was for getting the front of the very low-slung (4.8") Prime up so the oil could be changed. Raising one side isn't much help there.

    We said good-bye to the Prime yesterday. I finally went EV with a 2022 Bolt EV Premier. I'll tell about that in another thread when I get some time.

    I'll just say that the Prime was the best car we ever had. It ran flawlessly for almost 68,000 miles (46,000 mine). Very comfortable. Incredibly cheap to drive. And it really was the gateway drug to an EV.

    The story of how we were able to get the Bolt is pretty amazing and I'm still a little in shock over it. But I'll have to wait till the weekend when I have time to explain in a new thread, probably over in the GM Hybrids & EVs forum. I'll put a link here once I get the story written down. Right now, I have to shop for a spare tire AND a jack. That's right, the Bolt doesn't even have a jack.

    Looked at a few of these I guess there's some pending battery possible issues My brother is a big connection with GM with his think tank company in DC He's had a volt for a hundred years now just kidding but since they're inception I like the bolt too it just needs a few things before I'm ready. I'll still keep the gas car for a few more years even after I go electric just for traveling ease when needed it's too easy to pull into a gas station still cost of charging is fluctuating and starting to get out of hand I think too unless you're at home. for me anyway

    Congrats! Looking forward to reading your report on your Bolt.

    Yeah, I have been looking at Bolt myself lately. Currently, that is the only BEV available to purchase without waiting and paying a hefty markup. But having seen it real, I just couldn't justify parting with my PP for a less usable (smaller cargo and shorter range than PP) and less economical (no tax incentive this year, and there is no fuel saving I can see from what it cost to operate a PP). I decided to replace our inefficient gas-guzzler Pathfinder Hybrid SUV first. But, for that, I need a BEV with large enough cargo space. I hope my reservation on the Silverado EV will get fulfilled sometime later next year.

    All I know about is the big recall prompted by a total of 19 battery fires. That has been addressed and mine has the updated battery. (More about that in the coming thread about that car.)

    Us, too. We'll be taking my wife's 2017 Prius to Michigan and Ohio next month. Bolt charges too slow and the charging infrastructure isn't good along our route, even though it came with $500 worth of free charging.

    Actually, sitting side by side, the Bolt EUV appeared to have more cargo space than the Prime. There's quite a bit of room under that floor, which can be lowered. And, it's flat when you lay down the back seats with the upper floor in place.

    My old Sonic had an EPA cargo space of around 19cu.ft. It is mostly in height though. Length of cargo space is generally more useful.

    Heard of other spareless cars also ditching the jack. For some, losing the manufacturer jack really wasn't a loss.

    With the filters set correctly, it tells you to the minute how long to DCFC at the stops required on a trip plan.
    Clicking on one leg of a trip it will show the elevation change. Coming down the Rockies it will show the SOC increase!
    You can select Tesla Destination chargers (L2, but uses their proprietary connector) if you buy a ~$170 adapter. These are mainly at pricey hotels, because.....:cool:
    Yes, the Bolt charges at ~52kW at a DCFC station. This was the standard back when the Bolt was introduced in '17.
    Not good by today's standards, but "It does a body good to get out and do a walkabout while the Bolt charges".
    That's how I justify it on my Road Trips!:whistle:

    Welcome to the future! (as envisioned in 2017...The DCFC rate is the main complaint. I drove mine home from LA to KC. It's doable and not THAT bad. (y))
    Enjoy the guilt free acceleration!! Flogging it does not waste anything but possibly tire life.
    Which takes more electrons?
    0-60 mph in 60 seconds. (prius acceleration when you watch the 'Go Slow' display....;))
    Or
    0-60 mph in 10 seconds.
