If that is his primary income, he really ought to have a subscription choice for those of us who put significant effort into blocking ads for various security and privacy reasons. While I don't pay subscriptions to very many sites, my usage here is above the threshold where I do willingly pay to other sites.

I have never paid for the use of a forum. But this one would be worth paying something because of the value of the info.

I asked Danny. The mobile pop-ups are a change that Google made recently to its ad content display.

Apparently sometimes it hangs and fails to load too. Perhaps they provided a way to disable that.

These pop ups are plain infuriating.

I hate to say it but as long as they continue, I will be visiting this site a lot less.

Assuming the price is reasonable, I would be happy to pay for a premium account without ads.

On an Turn off signatures in Tapatalk Safari with Ad Blocker now, no pop-ups. No ads period.

strange, the word for a phone made by Apple is converted to “Turn Off..”, in the above.

Getting this sporadically, when clicking links:

    35525E50-5112-4A91-ADDD-0CCCA602FDC3.jpeg

might be related to ad blocker, not sure.

The error makes it sound like it couldn’t load because of an ad blocker.

I’ve got the same suspicion. Maybe good that it’s blocking, not sure.

I get the same thing when trying to view your PM response. Strange.

So far, just one on my office computer and none at home with the new blocker. But I don't use my phone or iPad for PC, so I can't compare if that's where you got the popup.

Maybe Ad Blocker fritzed out: banner ads were back too.

I got one of those. Same format as Mendels' examples. I couldn't tell if it was part of the site or if I had an infection. I clicked on one to see where it went. It immediately tried to get me to download software. Smells scammy to me.

It smelled scammy to me even without clicking on it.

I have never ever deliberately clicked on a popup ad. There have been a few times when they have been done so deviously that I have "clicked" them in the process of trying to get them out of my way. Most sites now, if a popup gets in my face, I just close that tab. I have to either need that site's info or really really want it enough to put up with someone jamming unwanted stuff in my face.

The only legitimate use of a popup, as far as I'm concerned, is when they are triggered by a click on a link so the user can read additional information without making everyone wade through text they aren't interested in. And they must be easy to close with the escape key or by clicking somewhere on the page.

I could go on but maybe I'd better get off my soapbox.

I do notice I am visiting here less. I guess it could reduce server load.

Turned off my pc browser's ad-blocker (to view an amazon link), and see the pop-up ads are still present. Funny world: in order for the site to generate income it's hosting all this cr@p, and everyone (except a few suckers) promptly installs blockers.

I have noticed them on PriusChat, but never though twice about them.

They're ubiquitous. If you use a "free" site or app, you're gonna see them.

Sometimes you even get them on sites or paid apps as well.

I click past them and don't think twice.

Sometimes my ad-blocker doesn't kick in right away:
