Does anyone remember the past few years how late the rebates went into the year? I know each year is different based on availability, etc. but I was just curious. I don't NEED a car until October but would buy one earlier if I needed to. Thanks!

I think that all 'automobile rebates' originate with the manufacturer. Toyota is going to be different from Chevy, or Ford, etc.

I thought rebates tended to grow as the year gets old, and they commonly want to move the outgoing models.

Of course, the best rebates are for the models that move the slowest, and may be absent from most popular models.

Thanks guys ... I'm not being very clear. The last two years when the Prime had really good rebates going ... do people on here remember how late into the year they tended to last?

The $4-5K northeast customer cash has been around for years, and has lasted throughout the year. But it's always possible supply will dry up and you will be out of luck. I bought my 2020 last September, even though my previous car lease wasn't up until December because I didn't want to miss out on the "deal". If I had waited another month or two, or three, I could have gotten a 2021 for the same deal. Oh well!

The Northeast rebates were generally to make up for the fact that other states had local government incentives, so they seemed to be pretty much year round.

As far as I can remember, for the past 4 years since the inception of Prius Prime in 2017 (started selling 2016), Toyota always had some amount of rebate. The amount usually increased toward the time the next year's model became ready to ship. For the 2017 model, I got $3125 rebate in July 2017 and there was not 2018 model out yet. For the 2020 model, the $3500 rebate was available in March 2020, again before the 2021 model was out. I believe as long as there is plenty of stock left, the current 2021 model rebate will continue till the end of this year or beyond. When the 2022 model starts to ship, it will have a lower rebate on them. Depending on the timing of the release of the 2022 model, there may be a short period when rebates are offered on both models. But, that's only my speculation. Toyota can change it without any notice.

When I was eyeballing them several years ago, the rebates on the outgoing model year were higher still in November and December, and even the following January, right up until the moment the inventory has gone.

The incoming model year units simultaneously had rebates too, but much smaller.
