    Hi all,

silly question time regarding the v.

When you sit/drive the v, is the ride higher than the standard Prius/normal Saloon/Sedan (yep from England :D), if so, roughly by how much are you sitting higher? Do you see over the roofs of other cars for instance?

I know it's a dumb thing to ask, but me and 'she who must be obeyed', look after an elderly neighbour and she's having difficulty getting in and out of a regular sized Saloon/Sedan car, so I wondered how much higher the Prius v (Prius + when we get it in the UK) is compared to regular cars.

My brother-in-law just traded his 06 for the Prius V. He told me it is about 4-5 inches higher than his 06 Prius.

Isn't that the roof height, not the seat height?

    v is 62", regular 58.7", so 3.3" diff.

Headroom about same for me in both, so about 3 1/2" difference.

I'm thinking Prius v rides a little higher / easier to get in/out of than a saloon car with a boot and bonnet (sp?) :)

My Prius V is 3-4" higher than my former 2010 Prius. It's very noticeable on the road and makes the V feel much larger than it really is. With my 6'3" height I appreciate the greater head room and the fact the 2010's center consul is gone so my right knee has some room.

My mother (age 77) just test drove the Prius v, and she mentioned specifically that it was much easier to get in and out of since the seat heights are higher. She doesn't like my 2010 Prius IV since the seats are lower. She currently drives an Element for the seat height. The back seats are even higher.

Seat-of-the-pants says you do sit higher up than in the Prius liftback; definitely higher than a saloon.

Many thanks all, I'm hoping that the new Prius v will be more 'sit in' than 'sit down and in' if you get what I mean, as this will make a great difference to our neighbour's leg and hip movement.

The GenII kind of felt like a 'sit in' type of car. At least compared to my Vette and Trans Am. I kind of like the feeling. I think if the v sits like the GenII or even higher then that would be a large selling point since most people are likely to buy the v for comfort rather than sportiness.

I just happen to have a Gen II and a Prius v sitting side by side in my garage. I sat as upright as I could in the Prius v front passenger seat and the Gen II driver seat and looked horizontally out the open door at a measuring stick to estimate eye height. I found that your eyes are 3 inches higher sitting in the Prius v, versus sitting in a Prius Gen II.

Note: I was trying to sit upright at 90 degrees so my back was not touching seat. This is an unnatural sitting position but one that I could reproduce in both vehicles. I had to move the seat back in the Gen II so I would not touch the roof. I am 6 feet tall. I tried a sitting back in the seats and estimating eye height later and results did not change much.

Sitting 90 degrees upright: Prius v was 3 + 1/4 inches higher than Gen II.
Sitting back in the seats: Prius v was 3 + 1/8 inches higher than Gen II.

Thanks for that Chazz8, that's what I was wondering, now all I need to do is to wait for the UK version to be released :D.

Thanks to all who replied to this post, it's very much appreciated.

There is a "pump handle" on the left of the drivers seat. Select your own height.

Did you hit your head when sitting upright in the Prius V. I am trying to figure out if there is generally more head room in the Prius V.
    Thanks

The v height fits right between a car and a SUV/minivan.

    Perfect for me.

The v has all sorts of headroom, ample in front and back seats for persons 6'4" tall.
