+1. Mine has been very reliable too. It was the first vehicle in many years that I decided to get an extended warranty: expired with zero claims.

    As far as the poll?
I'm in for "D" - None of the Above.

Comparing a Prius with a Mustang is sorta like grading an essay contest between our former and current Presidents.
    I'm pretty sure it isn't an apples-apples comparison. ;)
    You live in New YOWK!!
You drive less than 10,000 miles a year, and it sounds like your Mustang's clutch problem is the squishy thing between the seat and the steering wheel.
I'm no fan of FoMoCo and unlike a previous poster, if somebody gave me one and threw in a tank of gas I would drive it a little before a buyer came along....BUT.....I'm thinking that they get a pass on this one.

I'm guessing you don't live upstate.
The reason I say this is most people that don't live in boroughs will either say "upstate" or list the city.
I'm just guessing again here, but traffic might be a little more dense where you sleep at night.
If you know how to drive a car with a clutch, that's no problem. Clutches - even most poorly designed ones, do not wear out when they're fully engaged or fully disengaged.
    BUT!!!
If you're one of those "in-between" sorta folks......they can wear out fairly fast, and even if you're one of 'those' drivers....I checked and the street price for a 'stang clutch replacement is about $1200 so there's something else going on with your car, and (guessing again here!) It may not be a design or workmanship issue.

It works this way with brakes too. ;)

Most Americans are abysmally poor drivers..and yet if you ask them THEY THINK (on average) that they're slightly above average.
Gambling works this way too....which is why they build all of those Yuuuge casinos when almost everyone walks out "a little ahead."

As far as taking a $30,000 loss?
    It's not a loss.
You used a car for 6 years and you may not have gotten the best bang for your buck.

Sell it and get on with your life.

Check the oil regularly on the Prius, and consider changing your oil every 5,000 miles instead of every 10,000.

In a year or two start reading up on EGR and head gaskets.

ALL Vehicles have their warts. ;)

    Good Luck!

Seems like the Netherlands would be an extremely difficult place to own and operate a big SUV?

After posting the quoted material Ford responded with an 85% payment of said damages so folks my ownership experiment continues and the playing field is actually not completely level but FORD has come out on top since they are actually repairing the vehicle out of warranty something Toyota has not yet done and well has needed too. I am hopeful that my ownership of these two flagship brands continues to be interesting as I post all of my experiences. Hope you are all enjoying my posts I have another interesting one coming up.

The years are misaligned but both vehicle were purchased brand new and my posting is about overall ownership experience. Ownership is part affordability and part FUN so I discuss both subjects and will never be over critical over one knowing the advantages the other may have. I post about the duality of owning two flagship cars from the factory and the years of expenses.

I like your posting thank you for enlightening me on some of the social aspects of ownership. To put some perspective I am on the Kawasaki, Mustang Ecoboost and Prius Chat forums. I own all three of these flagship brands. Prius and Mustang are both major flagship brands worldwide as of 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost has been globally sold because it now has a 4 cylinder model which makes these two vehicles direct competitors in the global market. I own both and want to provide a very open ownership experience and love seeing posts that challenge my views or enhance the post. Thank you again.

So why haven't you vote on the poll for FORD. I did I like that Mach E. I have my beef with FORD but they have made me whole after my original post. They have decided on accepting an out of warranty claim to repair the ole Mustang. I still own the Prius but have to say the Mach E is looking like a possible replacement for my Prius if she dies and cost too much to get back on the road out of pocket.

I have not experienced the Hybrid Fords but you have me intrigued by your post. My 3rd gen Prius has been good too me though but like you said I am a low mileage driver.

I baby my clutches till I pay off the car note. I have yet to pay off the car note so when the clutch and flywheel burnt out I was exceptionally P'D OFF. Ford has made a very fair arrangement with me out of warranty which has equalized the playing field.

They are great! Pretty fun to drive too. Nice torque with their lithium batteries and electric motors. A Lincoln MKZ hybrid is a great affordable ride, I’d love to have one

I enjoy the drive of a well tuned turbo engine but truth be told a prius can be alot of fun in power mode and efficient to the point of shamelessness.
