    Hi to everyone!
I have Prius 2014, imported from the USA, 58k miles, trim two. After long driving for two hours, average speed 70 km/h, during this travel combinations of climbing, descending, and straight road, my trip ended with a long, little sharp climb, at the mid of this path, engine oil high temperature caution light was shown, I kept the car running and parked, open the bonnet, noticed that the water boiling in the water reservoir, but the cooling fan not working, I turned the AC on, the cooling fan started, a while after that, the high temperature caution light went off, I continue driving, the caution light went back with check engine light, I reopened the bonnet, I heard loud noise from time to time, please see attached video, and also I noticed that the water level below minimum line in the reservoir, but I did not find the location of leak. Please advise.

I have no clue what that could be, but do you have a way to read any Diagnostic Trouble Codes? The Check Engine Light, at least, should have trouble codes associated with it, which might be helpful. Possibly a member with a Gen 3 car will recognize the sound and be able to tell you what it is.

There is something strange with the audio in your recording. It seems very muted most of the time when the loud sound is present. Maybe that was your phone doing some sort of automatic level control?

The loud sound reminds very much of many a bad bearing I have heard on a motorized device, in this case either one of the fans or the water pump. If you had a mechanics' stethoscope (and earplugs!) you could probably poke at the engine water pump and at the two fan motors and make a positive ID.

If you had Techstream, I wouldn't be hanging too much hope on trouble codes (there aren't codes for everything; sometimes the computer won't know much about the problem), but would go to the Data List to look at the requested and actual water pump rpm, and see if something happens there that coincides with the starting and stopping of the noise. You could look at the fan status there too (but you only see on/off, not rpm like you get with the pump).

You also have the Active Test facility in Techstream, where you can command the fan and/or pump to run. You don't really have choice of speeds; you can say "on" or "off" to the fans, and "off" or "3000 rpm please" to the pump. That might not pan out if the noise only comes at certain speeds. But it would be something to try.

Naturally, though I wasn't holding out much hope for trouble codes, if there are any, they will be of interest.
