Is it safe to assume the dealer will use Toyota ATF WS? Do I have to ask? I've heard some dealerships use cheap oil and fluids for service.

Yes. They will use Toyota fluids. The "cheap oil" is the bulk stuff they do on oil changes. Typically it's Valvoline, Pennzoil etc. At our dealership it's Valvoline.

But that transaxle fluid change is very simple to do. No harder than an oil change. If you'd like to do it yourself check out this thread. How to: Change Transmission Fluid ATF WS | PriusChat

btw, scroll through the thread to find an easier way than threading a "down tube" in order to fill the transaxle. I used a fuel bulb for an outboard motor and simply squeezed the bulb till it filled. Waaaay easier.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I don't have a good parking spot to work and I tend to get stuck on simple things with cars sometimes, but I might consider doing it with a gear head friend of mine who has helped me with countless projects over the years. He's going to help me fix some scrapes and paint stuff soon, maybe this will be the next project.
