Get a detailed price menu/quote for your specific VIN/stock # as a pdf sheet. It should show base MSRP, destination, all add-ons, dealer discount, estimated taxes/fees, rebates, and total OTD price.

You need more than, "we'll sell it for $_____" in email text, to invest in that amount of driving.

Thanks for this breakdown. I've been on the fence to buy for a few months, but going to give Autonation BP a call this week espeically with the rebates going away in April. Question about the Uber driver incentive - what do I have to show them as proof? the driver app? I actually signed up a few months ago and got approved though I haven't done anything with it yet. TIA!

For Uber, use the website and go to your account or profile (I forget) that shows your name and info and "active" status. Print that page for them and that should be all that's needed. I couldn't find something that showed "active" on the app.
Yeah, great rebates through 3/31. Who knows if they'll go up/down for April. We bought in Feb and they increased a bit for March. Oh well, still a great deal on the car!

I am looking to purchase a 2021 Prius Prime LE by the end of the month. My state doesn’t have any incentives on the car so I’m gonna drive to the mid Atlantic region and check things out. I’ve been emailing and texting with several dealerships to negotiate a deal before I drive up. So far the best numbers I have are shown below

    2021 Prius Prime LE
    MSRP: $29,280
    Price: $26,133.98
    -Rebate: $4500
    -Bonus Cash: $500
    -Uber Rebate: $750
    Sale Price: $20,383.98
    Processing fee: $500
    Tag fees: $147
    3% Tax: $799.02
    Total Price: $21,830

does anyone see any suspicious fees? Thoughts on the numbers and should I try to work on getting the dealer discount even lower? I double checked to make sure there weren’t any stipulations on the dealer discount because I’ve been tricked before where the dealer included all sorts of conditional discounts that I didn’t qualify for like recent college grad, military etc. He has assured me that the dealer discount doesn’t have any requirements. I also have a question about the $5000 Toyota incentive. Does they require financing to get? I’m hoping to just write a check for the car. Lastly some dealerships have been giving me pushback on the Uber driver incentive saying that I have to finance to get it etc? Has anyone else heard this? Anyways sorry for the long post!

$3k dealer discount is awesome (similar to what I just got) - well done, you won't get much more.
Uber pushback is nonsense - it stacks on top of whatever deal you get, no financing required. It's a rebate that Toyota pays, doesn't cost the dealership, so they shouldn't care and be happy to help you out with it.
Wish we had that low of sales tax!

Don't forget to check for state/utility rebates that might apply... these would likely be after the sale and not needed prior to purchasing.

Looks good to me - go for it! Can't get a better, more efficient or economical new car at this price!

3k dealer discount.. is as good as you'll get. I got 3.5k dealer discount when the rebate was actually 1500. Now they're super resistant to that as the rebate is like 3k more. Congrats.. run and get it.

That is a great deal. My dealer also pushed back on Uber saying I needed to finance. It turns out, having to finance was the old rule and no longer applies. Show them the fine print from the Toyota website. Note 3 says “3. Incentive is available to any qualifying Uber Driver with an active status regardless of financing/leasing source.Program is compatible with other Toyota Incentives offered during the program period.”

The only fee I see that looks bogus is the $500 Processing Fee. Might be standard in your area but still worth seeing if they will reduce or drop it.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I’ll go ahead and go for it. Anyone recommend a good shipper? Thanks in advance!

Today I traded in my 2020 silver Prime LE for a 2021 white Prime LE. Very happy with my deal.
I paid $537 total out the door today.
I will need to repay part of my NY state drive clean rebate, I'm guessing around $700. But I will get the full $4502 Fed credit at the end of the year. So, I should make money on this deal.

    Congrats!

It can't go on forever, but for now I LOVE that we can upgrade to a newer model for less than the cost of tires and wiper blades!:D

We just got our 2021 Prius Prime LE metallic grey with black interior

    Cash Price
$27120.00 9 (includes all weather floor mats)
    Tax 9.25% 2516.46
    Transfer fee $30
    Document fees $85
    DMV fees $428
    Manufacturer rebate $5000
    CA Clean reward $900

Total = $24,279.46 OTD doesn't include the $1000 rebate from CA and the $4502 federal tax rebate
so after those rebates could potentially be low as $18,779.46

It's hard to know just when the best time is to take advantage of this. I have offers of around $25-26k from Carmax and Vroom for my 2020 Limited, so if I sold now and used the difference after payoff as down payment for a 2021 I would probably end up at around or slightly less than what I paid for my 2020. I'm just wondering if I should wait until later in the summer, just before the 2022 is out, or even until the end of the year to maximize any profit and incentives.

Prius Prime XLE w/ Alloy Wheel Locks + Floor Liner Package
    MSRP: $31,319
    Cash Price: $27,001.33
    Tax: $2,640.92
Total after Fees + Tax: $30,187

    - $5,000 Manufacturer Rebate

    OTD: $25,187

Dealer refused to give CA clean fuel reward (although they were listed as a dealer), otherwise OTD would’ve been $900 cheaper.

With CA rebate + Tax credit, it works out to $19,687. Happy with the price, dealer wasn’t the best though :( I got my pricing on Truecar after being given a 27k OTD from another dealer.

Would you mind messaging me the name of the dealer, or posting it here? I'll send you a PM, too. Thanks.

Edit: Private messaging doesn't seem to be working.

Edit 2: I saw in a second post you asked for recommended shippers. I've used Easy Auto Ship recently. It was about $600 for about 275 miles. Seems there's always a bit of risk but when I used it everything worked out fine and the car arrived with no issues/damage.

Any input on the attached (“non protected”) deal would be appreciated. This is an LE in Oregon. I’m in WA state so trading in my 2020 Bolt at a lower than average price as it’s saving me $1400 in tax.

Doesn’t look quite as aggressive as the CA deals but kinda close? Also trying to sign up for an Uber driver account to get that $750 lol

Get a quote from Carvana and Vroom for your Bolt. If it's greater than $18.1k, sell it those online dealers. I sold my PacHy to Carvana because they gave me thousands more than the dealer did after tax savings. It was a quick and easy process.

Also try KBB instant buy, where you can get it appraised locally from multiple dealers, but you might have to bring it to the dealer to get appraised.

BTW, what's wrong with the Bolt? I'm much happier with my Leaf over the Prime.

Carvana is awesome where it's available, for sure.

I was disappointed when I saw it wasn't available in WA. However with our high sales tax, a $16.4k offer from my dealer is effectively a $17.9k offer... good enough for me not to drive down to Sacramento, my nearest Carvana hub.

And to answer your other question... I've owned most EVs out there, including every battery iteration of the non-Plus Leaf (24, 30, and 40), a Volt, a Bolt, a Model 3 LR AWD. I just did the math and using any paid fast charging essentially makes the Prime the same cost to run, while the Prime has zero range worries (I like to drive far often). What do you like about the Leaf over the Prime?
