    I have mad skillz. :)

The tray and clamp for the battery isn’t generic looking as for the older Prius C. It’s clearly a custom fit for the battery (pretty nice, actually). I’ll have to see if it’s easily removable to allow for a different tray or clamp.

    Thanks!

My OEM battery order was canceled by the vendor for being on backorder with no ETA.

    Found this:
    https://www.autozone.com/batteries-starting-and-charging/battery/duralast-platinum-agm-battery-340-cca/1080153_0_0

Same 35Ah as OEM. Somewhat higher CCA. For non-smart key cars. Should have it next week.

Interestingly, the pictured vent hole is on the incorrect side for the intended application (2017 Prius C) since the terminal orientation is reversed, according to:
2012 – 2017 Toyota Prius c (Aqua) Plug-and-Play Car Harness Installation Instructions | Hybrid Automotive
    (scroll down a bit)

I'll be curious to see if the Autozone photo is correct. In any event, I ordered another vent tube and can fabricate a way to connect to the existing tube in case the vent hole is on the wrong side of the battery for my car.

I also found a used pre-2018 bracket/clamp set, which may have a mounting hole in common with the 2018 clamp, as well as a 2004-2009 Prius battery tray assembly. Some of those cars used the same battery as the pre-2018 Prius C.

    May be getting somewhere...

Aren't you going to have to make up terminal adapters to use that?

Due to different terminal diameters between original and replacement batteries? If so, I didn't think of that.

I could be mistaken- I was under the impression that the 2012-2017 Prius c had two different batteries, and they both used tapered terminals but the two versions had different diameters.

Meanwhile my 2018, which I believe to be identical to your car, uses a screw lug of some sort. I'm not familiar with the name or standard.

Doubt it'll be a big issue either way, not hard to make up a little adapter I reckon.

    Hmmmm...

The photo of the Duralast pre-2018 replacement shows tapered posts. Autozone says it's the correct replacement for 2012-2017 though I recall seeing different batteries for smart-key cars. My 2018 battery has typical posts and wire terminals (like those for every car battery I've seen), though I have to check to see if they're tapered. Re: adapters. I might then have something else new to learn!

This is a longer and taller battery of the S34B20R size, 197 × 129 × 227 mm, used on 2012–2017 Prius c and some 2004–2009 Prius cars. Have you checked if there is enough space for it?

The LN0 (H3) size used on Prius c model years 2018 and later is 175 × 175 × 190 mm, according to the EN 50342-2 standard. I don’t know of an aftermarket battery in that size available in the U.S., but you might try asking a Ford dealer for Motorcraft part number BHAGM-H3.

I’ll have to remove the original battery tray to accommodate the length. Height will be a close fit and I’m hoping the narrow width will allow me to angle it in carefully, if necessary, for the posts to clear as it will have to be installed backwards. I’ll probably have to pull the rear seat to work from above. If Toyota didn’t alter the framework under the rear seat, I might be ok. It’s a crap shoot, but I have to try.

Odd that they would make such a significant change in the battery shape and bracket, unless it’s a safety improvement.

I’m using a Solar BA5, works well. Current iteration is BA9.

I received the shipment today. Duralast sent two boxes of brake rotors instead of the battery. Can’t win...

Which is exactly why I don't order most things "by mail".
Support your local businesses........even if it costs you a few more bucks.
It often ends up being cheaper in the long run.....for various reasons.

Not wanting to start "yet another" COVID discussion but............
If the auto parts store is open, you can order parts ahead and go pick them up or have them delivered with almost ZERO
    risk of any virus exposure.
How do you get your groceries where you live ??

Then.......if you are in a very high risk category, why haven't you gotten the shot already ?

Just curious if you all may remember this thread? Direct replacement aftermarket battery for the C. Yes it's titled Help, Prius chat... I say that as it looked a bit confusing when I seen the hyperlink when posted. Help?!? | PriusChat

The breakthrough in that thread was Elektroingenieur sharing that there are now aftermarket batteries for the 2012-2017 models.

2018 and later have a new battery type. Toyota moved the goalposts again. No aftermarket availability of this 2018+ model yet.

You don't think it is a valid point ?
You don't think it is appropriate to mention in the context of HIM bringing it up ?

While I do appreciate your technical input, you don’t obviously know anywhere near enough about my family’s health challenges, my local auto parts store’s delivery policies or the bungled vaccine rollout in my state to be so judgmental.

OK, I'm sorry if you took it that way; not intended.
    Your call to make.
Not necessary to announce it though.

@NJ2018PRIUSC have you found any sort of battery yet?

Have you considered getting any other AGM battery, securing it in the footwell and making up some cable adapters to the native lugs? Let me know if you need any help.
