Previous owner of a 2020 Prime LE, Now own a 2021 Prime LE.
I notice a few differences. the 2020 model would make a lot of strange noises which I've been told is normal. - My 2021 makes a strange humming noise from 1 mph up to 23 mph. Once I hit 24 mph the noise is completely gone. I did not have this noise on the 2020.
    - The 2021 dash has a "local speed limit" indication. I did not have this on the 2020. Is the car somehow getting this from my phone? if so, is it using my phone data? (I have a limited data plan).
    - I'm looking for an OEM cargo area mat. Where can I get the best price?
    - I'm not very tech savvy: When my car is charging outside, is there a way to tell when its fully charge via my phone?
    - After my car is fully charged, I unplug the cord from my car. Is it a problem if I leave the charger plugged into the wall receptacle?
    Thanks in advance.

The owner manual says it is supposed to read stop signs and yield sign. But mine only reads speed limit signs. The one it always misses is school zone. There’s a sign on the way in but not after you pass it. So it has to wait until you pick up the next regular speed sign

As far as funny low speed noise ... I only get it while in reverse.

It's a Vehicle proximity notification system {VPNS). It has become mandated by the law, and all Toyota hybrid vehicles now have to have this. Accordingly, starting the 2021 PP model, the sound level of VPNS can not be customized anymore, and it is now lauder than previous models.

It's a new Road Sign Assistance (RSA) feature found in TSS2.0. The 2021 ane earlier PP had TSS1.0 and did not have RSA.

All-weather Cargo mat Part No: PT908-47175
Carpet Cargo mat Part No: PT9194716420
MSRP $90 for either mat, but can be had for ~$60 online. eBay would be the best place for a cheaper used unit.

All new 2021 model PP has Remote Connect functionality. The Toyota App, supposed to show you the charge level, but I have been reading people with both 2020 and 2021 models saying some have this functionality and some don't. It maybe the way the Toyota App is set up on the phone, but I am not sure.

No problem keeping the charging cable connected to the wall outlet. But if you are leaving the charging cable outside, I would suggest finding a way to keep both the cable and charging handle part as well as the "brick" of the charging cable out from the element.

Toyota app - once registered and setup with your vin number will show state of charge/charging status for the 2021 plug in. I have an android - my wife's iphone shows more detail but on same basic screens.

i pushed the "SOS" button in the car a few days after buying to accept the Toyota monitoring and get it "activated". NOt sure if this was required but a phone rep under "safety connect" said I needed to do that. I keep getting references to further apps/entune apps being available, sign up my npr one account, etc. in my manual and on my 11.6" screen but can't figure out how to get those on my 2021 limited.

Whether charging "now" or on a schedule - I do not get any notifications about the charge being complete, etc. - despite having turned on all those notifications in the app and on my phone.

Loving the car. Annoyed at Toyota's lack of full integration/control/monitoring/bells and whistles for the top trim level of the latest model of the plug in prius. Why would I get less on the most advanced version with the big screen/most tech features.?

The notification on/off are hidden in the vehicle profile not where you turn them on. Counterintuitive.

I purchased a 2019 Prius, does anyone know if it is able to connect to the Toyota app? I downloaded the app but I don't see any options to connect anything

If your car is a 2019 Prius PRIME, then I don't think the Toyota app does not work. The Toyota App replaced Toyota Entune App for 2020 and newer PP. If your PP is not Advanced trim, then you also do not have Safety Connect telematics. If it is Advanced trim (applies to only 2017-2019 PP Advanced), the Entune has the Prime App option to remotely connect to the car.

Thanks Schja01 - where in vehicle profile - in the app? because I turned them on everywhere in the app I thought. need to look again on my android vs my wife's iphone - as her iphone version of toyota app had more content - though both showed plug in charge/battery status. hers had more of the consumption data that mine was blank on.

    In the Entune App;
    Account
    Vehicle
    Your vehicle’s name
    Vehicle Settings
    Notifications
Turn them on here anc Save

Like I said not very intuitive.

I don't think you two are using the same app. @DC_2004_Prius is using Toyota App on 2021 PP, but @schja01 is using PRIME App on Entune for his 2018 PP. They are two different apps and not interchangeable, AFAIK.

I got charge status updates on my old Samsung android phone for a few days, after I registered on the Toyota app. Then it stopped; the Toyota app may have been running in the background. My phone is set to reboot weekly to prevent app lockups and clear memory glitches that pop up from time to time - my phone actually works as expected since I made this adjustment.
I'll fire-up the Toyota app tonight and report back tomorrow; if this works.

I does work on an Android phone; but the Toyota app must be running in the background of your phone. It shouldn't matter that your prime isn't an LE; since your going through the Toyota app; not the android auto app.

Observations: It looks like the prime is sending a data burst at least every-time you end a session / trip - probably every- time there's a status change (ie. full battery ). The data seems to be sent to a data server terminal somewhere; where it's accessible thru the Toyota app. WATCH-OUT; BIG BROTHER IS HERE!! Sorry; couldn't resist.:D:ROFLMAO::cry::confused: There are privacy ramifications and remote take-over of vehicle controls; They probably programmed lock-outs on a moving vehicle, but that's for another thread.
The real question here is; if I opt-out of the one year free remote access & internet connection - Will they stop collecting data on me? I highly doubt it. I'm pretty sure Toyota corporate mapped/planned this out as a legal defense; arising from the acceleration recalls from a decade ago ("Tin foil hat on - check").:cautious: Toyota got a lot of cases tossed-out; partially due to their ability to read the black box data off of the crashed cars or claimed that the car wasn't maintained properly. IMHO; Toyota is still one of the better, more reliable car manufacturers out there.

Sorry for the long rant; hope you found it entertaining:barefoot:

The "black box" is always collecting data on your driving, but without telemetric (cellphone data communication) of Safety Connect, the data will stay in the car. The only way Toyota will be able to get the information is to physically examine the car. Besides, I think the information kept in the "black box" is not the same type of data transmitted by the Connected Service apps.
