    Dear fellow Prius owners!

The time has come to say goodbye to my 1st Prius, the wondaful Prius C. It has been a very reliable and dependable car for my family of 3 for the last two years. Now that we are going to be a family of 4 we will need to move up to the Prius Alpha aka Prius Plus.
We had great times with this pocket city wonder and it works flawlessly with heavy traffic, full load with 5 passengers and a dog for Chinese New year road trip with the parents. The fuel economy will be greatly missed and also the ease of parking and running down little narrow side streets. We were 1st considering to buy a 1.6 TDI VW Touran and even pulled the trigger on one but got out bid by another buyer. Then we started to consider another Prius because when I go sailing with my oldest child, wife and newborn will be on the car with AC blowing for 6 hours while we are in the water. It will most likely kill a TDI in one to two summers and also a 1.4 TSI VW Touran will most probably crack a head gasket.
The only option was to get another Hybrid and the only 7 seater hybrid within our price range was the Prius Alpha. The styling of the interior is less desirable due to it stayed the same since 2013 and also the moon roof does not open was a downside to the switch. The interior of a Prius Alpha compared to a VW was very out dated.

But I guess we all grow up one day. Maybe I will have a midlife crisis and get something really slick later.

Anyways we are trading in our Prius C so I am taking the Red Bullet Solenoid out including other nice gismos such as 360 LED headlight and putting it up here for free in the next week or two. It will also fit a Prius Gen 2 for Gen 2 owners out there!

This Red Bullet is in perfect functioning condition and has plenty of life to go, these things last more than the duration of the ownership of a car. Point proven! Just kidding!

I have yet decided how we are going to give this one away. Not sure if anyone actually wants one used for free.
If you have some ideas of a interesting giveaway please feel free to share and I will post details here in a week or two.
After April fools day you will be able to find me on the Prius V page.
For people who have a Red Bullet in there car and know a friend itching to get one even just to try, feel free to let them know one is up for grabs in a few days, it will fit any Prius C and Prius Gen 2.

Hope you all have safe trips and awesome glides!

@Max Taiwan You should promote the Red Bullet and the giveaway on the r/Prius subreddit

Enjoy your Prius V! I checked out your posts last night and see you mentioned it’s going to have a Lithium battery pack. Looking forward to reading how that works out for you!

Thanks for all the info you’ve provided on the Red Bullet. This seems to be a slightly controversial mod around here, but I noticed nearly every PriusChat member who’s purchased one seems to be happy they made the switch, so I’m going to give it a try.

    Thank you Pri3C,

Thank you for suggestion. I'll look into reddit per your suggestion. As it's not a spanking new Red Bullet off the press I'm not sure if everyone will be up for it. I feel it's a waste if we don't find a new home for it as it served us well.

We should be taking possession of the Prius V very soon thus I'm going to take the Red Bullet out of the PC later this week. I'm waiting till the last minute to do it because can't bear to drive around in the stock solenoid.
I wish I could put in a Red Bullet as soon as we take possession of the PV but got to do a base line for comparison purposes.

I'll keep everyone posted for the Red Bullet giveaway.
    Stay safe everyone!

We still have ample amounts of fresh engine oil from our oil change. I will bath the Red Bullet in the fresh oil and sonicate it in a zip bag before we send it to the new owner.

The claim made for this product has consistently been:

    • (a) it makes valve timing changes happen faster than with the stock valve, and
    • (b) because of (a), happy things with performance and drivability ensue.

Last Wednesday, mr_guy_mann put up the first (known to me) direct test of whether (a) happens. The test was done by scoping the crankshaft and camshaft sensors, which had already been identified two years earlier as the way it would have to be done. Data from OBD-II would not suit the purpose because of the delays in polling OBD-II and getting replies.

The work does have (for now) one methodological weakness, small sample size; it was well designed in taking multiple runs with each type of valve, but having purchased only one sample of each type, it cannot (by itself) rule out whether the single sample of any of the valve types was a dud. But it is a very good start on getting some basic information about this product that has been overdue for a couple years now.
