So I ha e a galaxy S21 ultra, it shows when placed on the Qi wireless charger that its charging for a few seconds

And then says wireless charging has stopped

Only the phone is on the charger nothing else

Phone is quite large and in a case

    Anyone else have this issue?

First, let's get the obvious out of the way. Are you sure your phone is not already close to 100% charged when placing it on the wireless charger?

Second, if your case is metal, or the phone and case are so large that it does not actually make physical contact with the charging pad, I think that may be an issue.

Actually, I'm quite surprised. I have this case for my ancient Galaxy S5 (which I had assumed to be metal, and looks like metal) and I finally got around to ordering a wireless charging receiver for the phone and found that I can charge the phone through the case, both on this home charger and on our Gen 4's Qi charging pad, albeit very slowly on the car's pad. (In fact, if my rooted phone didn't have Ultra Power Saving Mode, I would probably lose charge while it is charging on the car's pad.)

A Qi charger on PP is very weak. I can't remember what Amp it was, but it could not charge my old Nexus fully in 1 hour. If the phone is on, even on the charger, it kept draining charge. I stopped using it very quickly. You will be much happier with a high Watt Type-C charge adaptor that directly goes into the 12v outlet. I have a 65W Type-c adaptor that can bring my Pixel from near empty to over 80% in less than 30min.

My iPhone is so powerful yesterday I placed it on the Qi charger and it kept the PP’s 12 volt battery fully charged all day.

LOL. Yeah, I now have Pixel5 with the Battery Share feature. It can charge other phones or device cordlessly, but never tried it on my PP.

    My phone was literally dead

    The Qi kept blinking too

I understand it's weak, but that's not the issue with my phone.

Also it's in a otter box which contains no metal

The magnetic field weakens with distance. I think it drops off exponentially, so if the phone is flat on the charger you get power at a level 10, but lift it 1/4 inch and it falls to level 5 and it's not long till the magnetic field is not strong enough to charge the phone.

Your profile says 2008 Prius, which did not come with a QI charger. What car are you using? Alternatively, are you using a QI charger in your house?

In my Prius Prime the Galaxy s9+ is a little bigger than the recess that denotes the charging area. I use a thin flexible case and it still manages to charge while driving.

Having said that... I will occasionally use a charging cord when playing a game that uses enough cycles to overheat the phone. :) But not while driving.

Very few cases will allow decent wireless charging, and in a car its constantly bouncing up and down or moving around to break the link. Remove it from the case if you really want it to work, but a charging cord plugged in is really far less trouble.

What is the point of this then lol

My otter box also charges seamlessly on my home wireless charger

Yep. Although I blame my very thick OtterBox too. I've got an adaptor in my 12v outlet too, so I can use my phone's navigation and play Spotify. Problem solved.

Exactly. The Prius' Qi charger is so wimpy that it's about as useful as that partially programmed and badly implemented 11.6" screen.

Reasons I don't us the Qi charger:
    1. I can't see the map on my phone when it's laying almost on the floor.
    2. I have to remove the phone from its case to get it to fit in the charger.
    3. I have to remove the phone from its case to get it to charge at all.
    4. Even then, the charger won't keep up.
    5. Putting a case-less $1200 phone on a slippery tray with sloping sides in a moving vehicle doesn't sound very bright to me.

I forgot what you have. Your member info says 2008 Prius Two.

Anyway, I got the Prime Premium because I wanted the power seat. Having a Qi charger that's lame isn't any worse than not having one. And the big screen does have some utility -- it's just so poorly executed. But now I kind of wish I had the advanced for the BSM and rear cross traffic. My wife's Prius has those and I really like them.

Because I got it on the 31st lol

I've had it literally 3 days

That screen has so much potential I wish they'd update it

You have to update your profile! So we can tell you're one of us. ;)

That screen is so freaking big, it could make for an awesome navigation system. Instead, I'm usually just listening to google maps give me directions from my phone.

I wish I had the BSM and rear cross traffic too! I couldn't find Advanced Trim in my budget range. Oh well. Having a backup camera and collision safety features is still an upgrade for me!

I had sort of written off the backup cameras as being too grainy and too small, based on my experience with my wife's 2010 Camry. I have the big screen (advanced) and that's the best thing about it. I can clearly see people, cars and other obstructions while backing up. Added to that is the cross traffic alert and even parking between two SUVs no longer has that moment of apprehension as I back up 2/3 of a car length blinded by 20 inch wheels and sheet metal that fills my view.

I long for the cross traffic alert! But the big screen does help with backup parking. Overall I'm a confident driver, but I am not good with judging micro-distances in a car (I always think the car is bigger than it is) so that screen means I'm more willing to try parallel parking.

The main function of the Qi charger in the Prime is to heat up the phone. Any another function is minuscule.
