Tesla tires on a Prius prime?

Rims are design specific to a car in general. In all respect it wouldnt be smart to even attempt it. You could get custom ones made like the design but made for a prius limited r one similiar but I wouldn't expect any gaines. I would especially expect more scratches as they would stick out further and possibly even cause a mpg loss.

I'm not a wheel expert but doesn't teslas sell 18 - 20 inch rims? I dont think they will fit? If you are asking for their tires, also varies on what options a buyer wants. Some of them come Michelins that are manufacture specific .

 

Are you talking about Tesla wheels? AFAIK, Tesla does not make their own tires. Neither does Toyota. I don't know the size of tires Tesla has, but if the size is compatible, yeah you can use them on any car that accepts that size of tire. If you are talking about the Tesla wheels, then looks like @vvillovv has the answer. None of them are compatible with the Prius Prime bolt pattern.

 

To work properly (odometer, speedo, etc) the distance per revolution has to match the original tires. If you find a tire that fits your rim it still needs the same diameter tread in order for the speedometer to be correct.

I think you are off base here.
You do NOT mount the rim on the tire. That is backwards.

IF.....the Tesla uses a tire size that is radically different than anything else on the market, then it would be a problem.

The tire is radically different compared to a toyota tire size. Wider, bigger, different lug patterns etc

 

I think what's being said here is that you are using the wrong terms Bakerman. A tire is that rubber thing. The wheel is the metal thing that the tire is mounted on. The rim is the outer part of the wheel. "Rims" is also slang for a wheels.

If you find a wheel that uses the Prius lug pattern and if that wheel has a rim of the appropriate diameter, bead and width, you should be able to mount a Tesla tire on it. And then you go back to post #6 which points out some of the problems with a tire that is taller than stock tires. Along with that.... Using wider tires can cause the tire to rub inside the fender well when you hit bumps or when you try to steer. Taller and wider tires can also tear up the fenders as well as tearing up the tires.

If you have to ask the question, chances are that you should not do it. Why? Simply because you don't know all the reasons that it may damage your car or cause a crash.

Then the answer to "would it fit on a Prius" very likely is a resounding NO.
And....I quit. The "lug pattern" is not a feature of the TIRE.

 

Look you need to understand that telsa tire won't fit on prius rim. Other way around won't work neither. The tire isn't the same size therefore the rim that fits tire wouldn't fit the well wide or tall. See your tire size is way bigger then the price. They would stick out and cause mpg loss and scratch the hell out of them. See what a lot of people don't realize is that the tire fits the rim, so even if you found something that would work, it wouldn't because you would have to adjust the suspension which would kill MpG in general. You say tire but without a rim to fit it, how does this even make it a smart or even a good engineering move. ..it's simply not.

 

Well: our daughters Tesla came with Michelin Primacy MXM4, and that’s what we’ve currently got on our 2010’s touring rims, so yeah.

BUT......what SIZE are the Michelins on the Tesla ??

 

Yeah they are bigger, still 17”IIRC but a bit wider and not as shallow profile. But I think this is all just in jest now?
