Have you considered traveling to a less expensive market further west or south to buy one? It will more than pay for the pleasant vacation that it requires. :)

The oil catch can I installed on our 2019 Prime is disagreeing;).

Caught 2 ounces so far in 6500 miles and the engine only runs 1/3 of the time:cool:.

More data coming as the miles like on(y).

This is what I do. I drove 5 hours to buy my Prius from a private seller, but I got a much better deal than buying locally. Again, I want to stress that it's important for the OP purchase a Prius that has been registered in a CARB state to receive the extended warranty on the hybrid battery- something I wish I had here in Nevada. Dealers purchase cars at auctions that are from all over. AFAIK, DC/Pa/Md/Del/NJ are CARB states.

@Laura L let me know if you're interested in learning about having a car shipped to you. I decided I had to have a Blue Prius Prime (the color is stunning), and I got a used 2017 from CA shipped to me in WA. $16,500 with 60K miles on it. Had a "Pre-Service Inspection" done on it (so I never saw or test drove it; I relied on the inspector).

Interesting, are you sure that the CARB registration alone suffices to receive the 10-year extended warranty? My car was registered and driven in CA (the original CARB, lol) for two years (I still have the HOV stickers on it!), but now it's registered in WA State, which has adopted some CARB legislation, but has some differences. I believe I only get the 8-years hybrid battery warranty?

Are you saying that Washington doesn't offer 10/150k warranty on a hybrid battery? Or, Washington doesn't honor the extended warranty on a Prius that was previously registered in another CARB state, like California?

This is why I often advise potential owners with any questions to call Toyota North America's customer service. They'll look up the Prius via the VIN and give you the warranty for that particular Prius. I found them helpful when I wanted information on transferring the Platinum extended warranty to the next owner.

The transport process, or the pre-purchase inspection process?

As far as I understand from what I've read, I believe that yes, WA doesn't offer 10/150K on my hybrid battery (because the manual I linked does not list WA).
Nor I do not have evidence to suggest that the CA-specific "extended" warranty applies to my now-WA registered car.

However, I'd be happy to be proven wrong! I'll call as you suggested. I obviously thought my car was a good deal anyway, and I don't have reason to anticipate needing the warranty anytime soon, but I'd like to satiate my curiosity.

I would say look for something a few years older, I have a 2013 Prius 2 and i got it for 4900 bucks, 115K miles (Family deal), but still, you can find cheaper ones.

Who assisted you in buying it remotely? Was it a service you hired? Or did you just simply do everything over the phone?

Sorry, SB1, it looks like that while Washington is a CARB state, it doesn't offer an extended warranty on the hybrid battery. Therefore, regardless of where your Prius was originally registered, you have the 8/100k warranty, like me.

The 2014 list of CARB States in the US | PriusChat

To the OP, this list applies to you, so read the attached link. Being a CARB state alone, may not be enough to receive the higher warranty.

Yes, that's what I assumed. Interesting that WA doesn't offer the extended warranty... we also don't offer a tax incentive for a new Prime because the battery only gets 25EV miles (we do offer the incentive for the new Rav4, though). One of the reasons I did not buy a new Prime.

Hopefully I never have to find out about the hybrid battery's warranty for certain! Should it come down to it, I'd try to wheedle and bargain anyway.

Honestly, it's mostly about peace of mind. The extra two years usually don't come into play, meaning I don't read about many batteries dying in years 9-10. It's more of an issue for me in the Las Vegas desert, because the batteries don't like scorching heat. At least you're in an area with much milder summers.
