Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to get a 2nd opinion and possibly another buyer from a different mechanic.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I wish I lived stateside because there are so many more options than here in Hawaii (price for paradise). Thinking of just selling it and just keep one car. My other car is a 2012 Prius C-70,000 miles.

In my state you can get used OEM batteries on car-part.com (just plug in the info from drop down menu and select battery) for anywhere from $400 to $1000.

I know a guy that can "rebuild them" for $400 by slapping some cells in it and whisking you away but from my experience, you do that on 10 of them....3 of them are going to fail within a year lol. So I prefer a used OEM battery from a wrecked prius.

I have a 50,000 mile prius listed for $8000 right now lol. You can get around 5500 for one with 3x the mileage so figure it is worth the slight premium for one with 1/3rd of the mileage.

In other words you are looking at a $600 to $700 repair (that's not much....Michellins are about that).

So I wouldn't give your car away over a $500 repair. It literally takes 40 minutes to swap out the battery if you are working extra slow.

Yes, that Prius is just getting started. Mine was up to 270,000 miles when I finally said goodbye to it, still running fine. They're amazing cars.

If you sell I’d sell it for $5,000.

My neighbor and her husband replaced the dead cell in hers for 27 bucks for the cell (ordered two in case both in the bank were bad, only needed the one) and the cost of the pro Dr prius app and a compatible obd reader. And she is not super super mechanically inclined. He did the tearing down the trunk/seat, which took about half an hour, about 45 min to put it all back I to a backseat, and the most time that was involved was waiting for the part to arrive. She did the multimeter work, which, once again not an engineer or electrician.

I had reccomended Green bean battery, with mine has (my dad got before he gave it to me), which offers a rebuilt battery for $1500, lifetime TRANSFERABLE warranty, and they will come to you and install it, wherever you are. Would highly recommend.
