Since this Prius is from 2005, I have been thinking about replacing the screen with a newer model. Like one from a 2009 Prius. Do you think that would work? (See message above where I talked about it). Thanks!

There are other threads in the forum that discuss how the pin-outs need to be changed in order to get different models to work in other cars. As for your specific combo? idk for certain. I do know that the 2005/2006 models are different from the 07 and later. I also know each model number (and there are several) have different connections in the back and potentially different pin-outs even on the same connectors.

It’s not that big of a deal to me. Worse case scenario is that I just get the screen replaced with the same type that is in there now, and that would be a major improvement. Thank you for this information!

That's the safe bet, imho. In 2007 they did increase the resolution of the display, so that's nice. But there are some hoops to jump through and I can't recall how hard they were. The info is around this forum somewhere, though.

I think I will just stick to the same model that I have. Thanks!

Hi! I never quite figured out what the problem was and ended up replacing it shortly after I created this discussion. I think that might be the only way to fix it :(. Sorry to hear this!

My Prius is doing the exact same thing. Did you find the fix?

yes upon my investigation of this same problem. Discovered in a video of a gentleman fixing the same screen in his 04 Lexus

Did you end up replacing yours as well? Or did you fix the issue?

how much was the new screen? Was it the same year? Or were you able to put a newer one in?
