    Hi everyone!
I am new on this community and have a question about the new hybrid Toyota cars. So I just get a good deal financed a new car in a local Toyota dealer (no dp, 0%APR etc). But the reason of this post is about the new hybrid system, which I think will affect all people who are getting any Toyota after 2020. So the Toyota Corolla hybrid 2021, I just noticed, the hybrid and gas system will shut off after about 30 minutes and will not turn on again, unless you do it manually (when the car is stopped). What this means, people who want to buy a brand new Toyota, and have future plans to sleep with the AC running in the hybrid system, will not be able to have this comfort. I did a quick research about this, and Toyota starting doing this in all hybrid models from 2020, to avoid accidents with carbon monoxide in confined spaces. Anybody else figure out this? Any tricks to deactivate this, or any opinions about it. I know this should be work good for a closed garage door, but some people maybe is a issue, especially sleeping in a outdoor, even with all safe carbon monoxide detector installed. Please don't judge me, I know this is for safety, but I am just wondering how to bypass this if is possible, because all the previously models I know works full AC or heater without shutting off. Thanks

That would be really annoying; I think the issue would be if you are parked up with the fans on low, asleep, someone parks in front of you in a parking space with their car running - if there is only a very slight breeze, your car could take in a lot of carbon monoxide.

Even parked by yourself, if the breeze blows the exhaust fumes backwards and there is a perfect combination of bad luck, your car could fill up with carbon monoxide.

The solution is carbon monoxide alarms in the car (as well as hoping your car’s or the other person’s car’s catalytic converter is working).

No idea how to fix, but you could experiment; if in ‘park’, does tapping the brake pedal reset the 30 minute counter? etc? Try random things like that and see if they work; if the brake worked and if it has a switch for the rear brake lights, with some ingenuity that could be used to your advantage!

This issue was discussed at length in this thread. In Post #31, @Daisy81 found a solution (locking the doors using the inside lock buttons). Try that and report back if it does not work.

Also at my workplace there is a Camry
hybrid for the ‘special people’ (high level managers); I found out it is rarely driven, so I am angling for using it once a fortnight to stop the batteries degrading like my 2002 Gen1
    Prius batteries did!
