All the parts shipped. If it goes well, I'll add the fogs next.

    Wow.

Didn't expect that, at those prices, folks would be upgrading so many of them.

I like the accent lights, for sure, especially if they're on when the DRL's are on (just safer to be seen more). Wouldn't need the fogs.

    The parts are in:

Verified they work but not installing them until my car is wrapped next week. The installer said he can do a full wrap around the edges with the accent inserts out.

Also, there is no power to the fog connector with any light state which is unfortunate that it doesn't default to on so I'll have to do one of three things:

    1) Get the factory control stalk that includes the fog switch.
    2) Find the wire on the control harness for the switch (if not bus controlled) and tie it to power (they'd still auto turn off when brights come on).
    3) If bus controlled, figure out how to program the controller change the default state.
    4) Add a relay and control the fogs base on when power is running to the low beams.

My preference would be for 3 since it would require no physical modifications followed by 2 since it would be very small physical change. 1 would be most expensive but would be entirely factory. 4 would be my least desirable solution.

When I look on toyota parts website I found very expensive light module and it shows me I need them 2 for a headlights.I called toyota parts and they told me that module is not for my prius. Could you tell me what is that gray thing on left corner of your picture? with number 89907-47090 and what is for? that could be very helpfull for me
    thank you

Any idea if this upgrade can be done on the 2020 Limited and how difficult is it? I was told by the dealer that it can be difficult due to wiring issues?

How did you get your top LED accenting to work without the headlights on?

Not sure exactly but since it says Denso on it, it's likely a headlight ballast or led power converter control unit.

It's doable but after driving with the LED headlights, I didn't feel they were necessary. The factory led headlights are very very bright and have a superior cutoff that the fogs would ruin.

Those are the parking lights on the AWD model. I believe FWD models use the amber turn signals as parking lights, right? (like yours?)

The LED parking lights on mine don't light up by themselves, in any mode. Either the Black XLE (briefly) or the White XLE that I've owned. The Headlights are always on no matter which selection I choose other than "Off". The front Headlamp LEDs don't have a selection to be on themselves.

I thought that it seemed odd that the car's headlights are always on.

Yes, so the vertical lights (clearance lights in Toyota speaker) are AWD-specific features. The LED parking light above the headlights are also an AWD-specific feature.

The headlights are used as DRLs so that's why they're on unless you turn the headlight switch to the "DRL OFF" position. The low beams are still slightly reduced in power so they aren't the full low beams.

What is the advantage of not having the DRLs on? The Prius is the first vehicle I’ve owned that has DRLs and that permits them to be turned off... prior vehicles with DRLs did not allow them to be turned off.

<shrugs>. It’s not required in the US so that’s why Toyota offers the ability to turn them off. “Freedom of choice” in the US I guess. I suppose those in the southern states won’t see as large a benefit with DRLs as those in the northern states with the lower sun angle in the winter.

Up here, I’m so used to seeing DRLs that a car without DRL is invisible for a couple of seconds to me (even during the day).

So I would need to find an AWD prius just to have the headlights off + LED Accent (in the headlamp assembly) on?

On my Limited, the accent lights are on any time the car is powered on regardless of other light states.

My Tesla has a switch to turn off the DRLs but I just leave it in auto.

Hmm, I’m not sure how it works in the US but if the parking lights are on , the DRLs might be on too. (For photo purposes, you can have the parking lights only but once you release the parking brake, the DRLs come on when you’re in “READY” mode)
But didn’t you mod your car to get those accent lights?

I turns out I was wrong. The accent lights are only on when the headlights are on. Even in the auto mode, when the low breams dim to DRL mode, the accent lights are off.

I'll have to rewire the stock power supply to an accessory on tap. Depending on what's available at the fuse box, it might even require a relay if all I can get is signaling.
