I can go look, but didn’t someone post (in another thread) that an certain aftermarket cat (presumably cheaper) has just been approved in California?

Not that I've seen or read anything about. This would be very important news.

Would change the massively increasing liability of owning a Prius everybody in CA has as of today. I'm thinking about selling mine as soon as I'm done with the resurrection/overlander project...a $3k theft in 1 minute that renders the car useless except for parts is just too much to deal with.

I remember when I visited Mexico City, The family that I stayed with had a 10 ft tall wall with broken bottles cemented on top.

Update on aftermarket catalytic converters in CA: | PriusChat

"The official listing from the California Air Resources Board (PDF) confirms that Executive Order D-193-151 was issued on April 14, 2021, for Car Sound Exhaust Systems, Inc. (Magnaflow) series 5631000 and 5671000 catalytic converters. CARB’s database of aftermarket catalytic converters has a copy of the order, which I’ve attached below, since it can’t be linked directly on CARB’s site.

    The approved (“exempted”) applications are:

    • Toyota Prius, model years 2004–2015
    • Toyota Prius Plug-in, model years 2012–2015
    • Toyota Prius v, model years 2012–2015
    • Toyota Prius c, model years 2012–2016
    • Lexus CT 200h, model years 2013–2015 ..."

"It's Executive Order D-193-151 if you want to do a search for it. I called MagnaFlow and the bad news is they are still in production and don't expect them to be available until August. :/"
