I just picked up a 2021 LE awe-d two days ago. I have a few questions:

    1. Is there a way to open the trunk from inside? (I cannot find any button around dashboard)

    2. it looks like there is no way to open the trunk (press the button next to the license plate) without using fob to unlock all doors first, is that correct? (my fob does not have a truck button)

    3. it does not look like a vertical cargo net can be installed?

    4. I thought the turn signal on the side mirror was a pretty standard thing nowadays. I did not see that on mine.
    thank you in advance

    1. No. It doesn’t have a power tailgate. Only sedans have a manual release
    2. Not on LE models. You need to have “3-dr SKS to have a lock/unlock button on the hatch. However, you can change the unlock setting for SKS to unlock all doors when you unlock the driver’s door
    3. A vertical cargo net can be installed. Canadian models have a vertical cargo net
    4. You’d think. No idea what Toyota’s thinking was.

Here is the pic for the cargo area, it does not look like there is "hooks" for the vertical net.

Also, according to the manual, BSM and RCTA dont beep?

    thnk you very much

The inability to pop the trunk from the inside has been surprisingly irksome. In these Covid-19 days of curbside pickup, I’m stunned by the number of people who have no clue how to open up the trunk. For a few people, I’ve had to get out of the car and open it for them when doing pickup.

Hmmm. My BSM and RCTA both beep at me. I've come to depend on it too!

(off topic. I'm driving my mom's caddy this week, and the lack of "modern safety devices" in a 10 year old luxury car is appalling. )

I have the cargo net that Toyota sells as an accessory (part number PT347-47160). The installation instructions (PDF) show that it comes with attachment hooks, which replace the circular blank covers (as seen near the top of your photo) on each side.
The Owner’s Manual (PDF) says on page 350 that the buzzer in the blind spot monitor system is used only for the rear cross traffic alert (RCTA) function.
    That’s a grocery bag hook (Owner’s Manual, page 469).

Huh, grocery bag hooks. My user manual only mentions these in regard to a latch point for the deck board when it is lifted up to access the various tire repair and jack equipment. I didn't notice they were called grocery bag hooks, and could be used for that, until this post. I have a plastic crate in the back to stack things in, bottles and such. The more you know...

Yep - grocery bag hooks - but they're not the best - I have found that bags fly off quite easily.

Re <4> - you'll have to move overseas to get indicators in your mirrors. It's in my Australian base model. Was in my 2008 FORD Focus - odd that they didn't put them in USA Prius.
