If they took all the ethanol out of the fuel. Every 4th gen prius would get 60+ MPG.

The energy density difference between E10 and E0 is only about 3%. That won't boost any existing Prius to 60 on the EPA scale.

My mileage goes up 8.9% when they remove the ethanol. I don't know how much they remove during the summer months but that is number I have seen over the years. Go watch the Matt Damon film "The Informant." It's all about the ADM ethanol scam but with a crazy person.

3% ....... 9% pick a number - ones mileage is not too far off from the cost difference. So at the end of the day, watered down gas = watered down range/efficiency.
That conundrum doesn't apply to electricity. An electric car will get the same efficiency regardless of the electron's source. Only your regional electricity cost differences will change your cost per mile.

Japanese print mag Best Car today released it's new issue dated June 10. They always release issues one month prior to the printed date of the issue, then a few weeks to a month later put the articles up on their web site.

The headline if this "June 10" issue is "New Prius design revealed!!". Teaser article says (via Google Translate): "And the design of the "new Prius" that appeared in 2022 was revealed! The final definitive design that the Best Car Scoop team has grasped is posted in the CG image produced by this magazine. The body shape of the 5-door hatchback remains the same, but it is sleek and pretty cool."

When they say CG image, they mean their artists rendition, not an image from Toyota

They also tease that Toyota may be developing a new Celica for the North American market and that a "hydrogen combustion engine" (not using a fuel cell) is under development.

The print magazine is available through Amazon Japan but only to addresses in Japan. Kindle version is "not currently available". It would be great if someone in Japan could get the magazine and translate it for us. Otherwise we'll have to wait a few weeks to get the web version.

I believe the blue car is the Prius but seems so much like the current generation. There may be a newer rendering inside. We'll see.

The yellow vehicle is the possible Celica.

But they don't remove the ethanol for summer anymore. It isn't a winter-only thing like it originally was decades ago.

Your MPG goes up in summer for many other reasons. And it did so long before the ethanol mandates. If you want to compare ethanol to non-ethanol, go buy some non-ethanol fuel and compare under the same weather and temperature conditions.

The ethanol "scam" is about other politics.
Winter temperatures and road conditions reduce electric ranges too, though not pegged to the same degree as gasoline efficiencies.

Nice, I can see the redesign / evolution in the blue car, it's definitely nice but somehow still retains that Prius general shape.

Looks like an evolution of the Gen 4 with late 80s/early 90s headlight design.

Concept cars usually have larger wheels.

    Gen 2 concept for example

Too: the car is monitoring the outside air temp, and when it’s colder likely increasing engine warm up time and who knows what, to keep pollution down. I’d guess it has multiple scenarios in its programming, switches depending on ambient temp.

My opinion comes from the old Nov 1st through April 1st (ethanol). After that it was ethanol free or a summer blend that I call ethanol free. I used to have a Honda Civic, non Hybrid and when ethanol was added to the gas, my mileage tanked. During the summer months my fuel economy soared. My Prius is up to 55MPG and it's not even summer. We are in the same area it seems. This is hardly a cold climate area or a desert climate in the spring and summer months.

There is science, junk science and pseudoscience. There is a saying, money talks and bullshit walks. I do not consider a hybrid vehicle a BEV vehicle or subject to the same amount of loss of fuel economy because it's all electric vs. a hybrid. Let's just say from new my Prius got 58MPG without trying on a tank of gas according to the Prius computer. It got 51-53MPG during the winter months.

I got as low as 48/49MPG this past winter. Worst ever. I thought my mileage was due to the 12v battery or that my Hybrid battery pack maybe deteriorating. Then my tank in March and got 55MPG. I realize they have spring blends, summer blends and all sorts of ethanol blends throughout the year. The problem is that I can tell when they have done things to the gas. I have had tanks in non winter months that were not good MPG.

Talk to anybody who has power lawn and gardening equipment. They say that ethanol gas always gums up their gear. They suggest ethanol free gas stations which if they exist are independent stations with either Leroy or Earl running the pumps.

That program started in 1992, and metro-Seattle's Winter Oxygenated Fuel Program season was November 1 to February 29. Other urban and metro areas had different required start and end dates:

EIA.DOE.gov: Areas Participating in the Oxygenated Gasoline Program

Seattle was declared to be in attainment on October 11, 1996, ending this winter mandate. As of 2008, most areas under this program had reached attainment, and only 8 remained under this winter mandate:

EPA.gov: State Winter Oxygenated Fuel Program Requirements for Attainment or Maintenance of CO NAAQS

Today's E10 requirements are different, and run year-round, not just winter.

We pump our own ethanol-free gasoline here.

It's all I keep in store for the lawn mower, power equipment, or ... emergency 5-gallon fuel can to help my Prius get the hell out of the way of a hurricane. It stores outside, nearly sealed but not completely, so much better than ethanol gasoline does.

I certainly could get away with doing an experiment of a tank full of ethanol free gasoline (not supposed to, but they don't watch the pumps that closely) at about $1 more per gallon, but I get such low MPG with my Prius that it would not be indicative of what you folks would be getting.

Meanwhile, the Corolla Cross has been spotted in U.S. testing supporting the belief that it will be built at the new Toyota/Mazda factory in Alabama that is expected to come on line by the end of the year. The hybrid version could be called a Prius Cross since it is about the size of a Prius and has the same drivetrain (1.8 L ICE and 28 module battery). Trouble is Prius name isn't so popular anymore.
