Is this a new battery or a rebuilt one?
If it's not NEW your asking for trouble.
Where is the battery coming from.

Greentec auto has them on sale right now for all generations of Prius or any hybrid.

I would never put a used battery in my car.......... they are just old batteries they get for free and put in a couple newer cells in...but they are used....... and then they take your battery and sell it to someone else.....

What if it goes out when your out of town? I know somebody that tried that route and they had to swap it out three times. Got stranded and had to be towed.
What if they go out of business?
So did you give them your battery?
I got a new battery changed it my self and sold the old one on Craigslist.
Ended up having $1200 in a brand new battery.

Those used batteries are not remanufactured... you can't remanufacture a used battery or any battery.
They are making at least $1500 off you.... for a old used battery.
And you won't be getting a new battery if they change it. Just another old used battery.

Again,we will see. I will be able to tell if it’s just a used battery or not as I will be checking it after it’s installed. If the car breaks down, that’s what I have AAA for. Your talking to me like I’m a newbie to the mechanic scene and I assure you that I am not. I did my homework on this company, did you? And you sound like such a honest person by selling your junk battery on Craigslist. Probably to some poor soul that thought they where getting a cheap good battery.

I love how people put words in your mouth. The shop I worked at for over 25 years,if a hybrid came in with anything concerning the hybrid system, the shop owner sent it to the dealer. He didn’t want liability for one of his technicians screwing up the car. We did work on everything else on hybrid vehicles that didn’t pertain to the hybrid system such as suspension,brakes,engine,etc.... If I was an expert as your wise a$$ suggests, then why would I be on this forum looking for help with my hybrid? Your approach to people needs to be worked on. I’m all for comments with knowledge from experience and suggestions from experience. I’m not all for criticism and or attacks I guess you’d call them from people that don’t agree with your decisions. Maybe if you came at me with a “hey, that company sells mix matched batteries and here’s the proof and ohh,I know of a company that I had great luck with” you would’ve gotten a totally different response. My first hybrid experience was my 2020 Camry LE hybrid. I hit a deer with it and instead of using a rental car,I used extra capital that I had and bought a used Prius figuring that it would be a good night time driver and winter car. I’ve had nothing but problems with this car. Yes,I bought a lemon because of my LACK of experience with hybrids So I’ll say that your input is very much appreciated. Your attitude is not.

Have them give you a serial number from the top of the modules. The first 4 digits are the manufacture date code. For $1800 that f'er better be brand new. A new OEM Toyota replacement pack can be purchased for less than that and DIYed, especially by an experienced mechanic.

Aw well this has gone pretty much like I thought it would? But bottom line is simple (as I see it?) The replacement battery has a 18 month unlimited mileage warranty? Remanufactured or not that sounds pretty good to me? Either the company stands by what they say or they don't?

I have no idea but I would like to know if with the battery pack, the OP's Prius is no longer a slug going up hill? because that is not right! :)

I will be putting 309 miles on it Wednesday night after the new battery pack has been installed. My work takes me up into the Adirondack mountains, daily and these are the hills the Prius is a slug on. The warranty is actually 24 months, but I’ll have over 180k miles on it in 18 months as I drive over 10k miles a month just for my job.

Only reason I went with this company is because every battery I found online was over $2000. And most only came with a one year warranty. I will be checking the date codes. Thank you for that info. Luckily I have two other vehicles to drive,as I am now,if they give me a lemon battery. I told the company where I drive and asked what kind of compensation they would provide if say the battery took a crap 160 miles from home and I had to have it towed. They stated that they would reimburse me for the towing charge as well. I’m thinking I should have asked you guys where to get a new battery pack before I made this purchase, but I guess I’ll see how it goes. I’ll keep everyone posted on whether the battery pack helped the slug problem and if I have any issues with Greentec. Thanks guys

That $1800 also covers them installing the unit too. And that’s part of the warranty too. If the “new” battery takes a crap,Bob from Ohio has to drive his happy a$$ back to upstate NY to put another one in and all I have to do is watch him. That was the other reason I went with this company. I really hope this decision doesn’t bite me where the sun doesn’t shine.

They are right. But a mix and matched "rebuilt" battery will last at least three to twelve months before they will swap out weak cells for better modules. A better hv battery will improve mpg but usually in the four to five mpg range.

Power going up large hills will not change much as the engine is doing all the work after a short time. Plus the engine will be charging the hv battery even as it goes up hill. So engine condition becomes a factor especially if its experiencing high blowby. The 2010-2013 Prius engines had some flaws but no need to complicate things now.

If you can't get 40 mpg over a tank of gas after the replacement battery I would go through the engine and egr.

Engine is new. Like brand new. The intake has been totally cleaned as the Egr tube has been too. The Egr and Egr cooler are brand new. This car has just been a lemon and with what I have into it,where do I stop trying to make it not a lemon?

Of course it's hard to say but I'd say (anyway) not just yet, it has a new motor and the Battery thing while "annoying," was just a matter of time.

I think you said you have "Tec Stream," and that would be helpful going forward although hopefully not needed for a long time. :)

But starting from the beginning of your thread, you mentioned the "Inverter pump," not working, did you change that out? On your (overly long test drive) with the new Battery, you don't want that to fail, when you know it's problematic? That would suck. :(
