I can travel about 2 miles in my 2010 Prius before the traction battery is really low, and the ICE kicks in. I thought the range in electric mode was more than this. The car has 154k miles and does not show any CEL.

Right, and oh, while you're at it, please do yourself a favor and READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL:

2 miles is really the max. The battery is about 1.3 kWh and from "normally full" to empty is from 60% SOC to 40%, so only 20% of the capacity. That's about 0.26 kWh and it is a stretch to get 2 miles from that.
Maybe you're confused with the plugin Prius which will get some 10-15 miles of electric range.

As @bisco and @Maarten28 said, don't try driving in EV. The only good use for EV in any Prius except the PiP or Prime is when you just want to move the car a few feet and don't want to start the engine. In normal driving let the car decide when the engine should run. You'll get better gas mileage and the traction battery will wear more slowly.

And unlike most cars, the Prius owner's manual is way more than just a kneeling pad. There's a lot of important stuff in there beyond just this subject that will make you and your car happier.

I stand corrected. I would swear that I saw somewhere that the range of EV mode was 14 miles. It probably should be closer to 1.4 LOL

Perhaps you were looking at the PiP (Plug in Prius) that has the same body style as the 3rd Gen Prius.

That is twice as far as the original marketing hype in 2009 was claiming.

Back then, Toyota was saying 1 mile. But since it really isn't an electric car, and the electric-only speed limit is just 10 or 25 mph depending on engine coolant temperature, it seems they've dropped even that claim.
