I'm going to replace the inverter pump on my 2008 Prius (176k), and this is what I encountered when I began to shop for it. They appear to be genuine parts, but the price difference is sizable. The brackets are different colors, the packaging is similar, and aside from the part number and the "BG" and "BF" in the right hand corner of the label. The part number on the left is appears when I search for it on Toyota's website, but the one on the left does not. I found this pdf on another thread addressing this, and page 4 notes that it contains a kit with the pump as well as the gasket, but neither of these pumps are accompanied by a gasket.

I've no desire to be penny wise and pound foolish here, but the cost difference is a significant one, and they have both been acknowledged by Toyota. Can anyone shed some additional light on this?

I went with the G902047031 which cost me $116.26 plus sales tax of $6.98. Please note when i called the local Toyota parts department I was quoted on the phone $196 for this part plus sales tax
However, when I searched for this part on google using the part number then an ad for the part at the discounted price popped up from the local Toyota dealer. I was required to purchase online using the ad and then I was able to pick the part up about half an hour later at the local dealer.

This is an important part. As a result, i wanted to buy the genuine part. A genuine Toyota inverter pump for $49.99 is too good to be true IMHO. $50 is what I would expecr to pay for a Dorman inverter pump (Dorman is notorious fir horrible QC). IOW, I do not believe that I am capable of buying gold for the price of lead.

I had already replaced it by the time this post was written, but I'm glad to see it available for anyone who may need it. Thank you.

There was a recall and I believe the dealer replaced it at that time (for the previous owner), but they tend to last approx 100k miles and I was just doing some preventative maintenance.

Whichever one I ordered was installed nearly 2 years ago and it may not be genuine, but it's functional. Should I need to replace it again, I'll throw in a genuine pump and call it 100k.

I did quite a bit of research on these a couple years ago before I bought several pumps. Going by memory, I'm pretty sure the models with the gold colored base are the "old" version of the pump that was replaced under the Toyota recall. The updated pumps, including the 04000-32528 kit have the silver base. The gasket is an aluminum crush washer that is taped to the underside of the lid and is for the inverter cooling system drain plug. Not needed if you just clamp the two hoses shut. Inside the box, the pump is in a plastic bag, with no white caps installed on the ports. I still have two of these "kits" sitting on the shelf and can easily provide photos or information if desired.

The 04000-32528 kit is currently available from toyotapartsdeal.com for about $88
