Has anyone done the OEM/JDM Switch mod on an 07 yet? I've looked at the SIGMA site and it shows 06+ on the green colored switch but as yet I've been unable to find anything about it being done on PC. Anyone?

Here's the picture. I don't believe anything has changed electrically...or has it?

Thanks Evan. If you hadn't noticed I was kind of waiting to see if anyone else had taken the "plunge" on this one before I did!

ITW, FWIW, I thought I saw an earier thread that mentioned that the "pin" that goes into the ECU is a smaller size in the '06 than the '04-05's. I bought a wiring harness from Galaxee a while back but haven't used it yet as I haven't decided if I really want the EV Mod. And if I do decide to do it I may want the switch not so noticable to the service tech.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking when I started this topic. I knew there were some differences between the 04-05 and the 06, I just didn't know about 06 to 07.
    Thanks

The Toyota Japan website shows the interior of the 07 with the same button, which is where Sigma got their pic. I'd bet that the 06+ will work with the 07. I may do this mod in a couple of weeks when I have time. I'll post something if somebody hasn't done it by then.

This mod really interests me. Will you now get a dash indicator light when in EV mode? How much did all the parts cost to do? How fast can the Prius go with this EV mod?

I have ordered the EV Mod from Sigma Automotive for my 2007 Touring Prius. I'll let you guys know when I install it so we can confirm that the mod works for the 2007 Prius.

This is one of the mods that I can't wait to put on my soon to be arriving Prius (in December). Now that I know that the button works, I just have to find somebody to put it in for me. I get all skweemish when it comes to surgery.

As far as I can tell from the tech repair manuals, the 07 is the same as the 06 Prius... The EV button in the 07 Japanese Prius looks the same as the 06 ones... I'd bet that they are exactly the same. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Cost: $69 + Shipping from Sigma (specify which year you have)

Dash indicator: No, I don't think so... However it seems the button itself will light up.

    From:
    http://www.evnut.com/prius_ev_mode.htm

Ken (PriusChat) offers us this translation of the Japanese manual regarding the EV button:

In the "EV" drive mode, your vehicle runs like an electric vehicle, only using the electric motor driven via electricity which is stored in the hybrid vehicle battery. This mode is suitable for driving in residential areas in the early morning or in the middle of the night or in the covered parking lot because you do not have to worry about noise or exhaust gases.

Press the switch to turn on the electric motor power manually.

The indicator light in the instrument cluster comes on. Pressing the switch again will turn off this function and the indicator light.

Caution! The driver should pay full attention around the vehicle especially when it is driven only by the electric motor (with the gasoline engine stopped). People in the immediate area might misjudge the hybrid vehicle movement based on the absence of the regular engine noise.

In the following conditions, the "EV" drive mode may not be turned on. In this case, the message appears I the multi-information display and a beep sounds.
-The hybrid system gets hot. (after the vehicle is left in hot weather, after driving on the slopes or high speed driving etc.)
-The hybrid system gets cold. (After the vehicle has long been left below 0oC (32oF).)
    -During gasoline engine warm up
-The hybrid vehicle battery assembly charging level is 3 or lower.
-The vehicle speed is about 45 km/h (28 mph) or over
-The accelerator pedal is depressed strongly or on the slopes.
    -The defroster is in use

    Turning on in cold weather

When the engine is cold (for example early morning), it will start warming up about 10 seconds after the READY light comes on. During the warming up, the EV drive mode cannot be turned on. (The time before the engine starting varies depending on the temperature, air conditioning condition, etc.) To use the EV drive mode, press the switch before the engine starts.

In the following conditions, the "EV" drive mode may be automatically cancelled whilst driving. In this case, a beep sounds and the "EV" drive mode indicator light flashes three times and then goes out.
-The hybrid vehicle battery assembly charging level is 2 or lower.
-The vehicle speed exceeds about 45 km/h (28 mph).
-The accelerator pedal is depressed strongly or on the slopes.

Although the available driving range differs depending on factors such as the hybrid vehicle charging level or air conditioning condition, it usually ranges from about several hundred meters to 2 km (about ? mile or less) when the vehicle speed is less than about km/h (28 mph).

As your vehicle is designed to have the best fuel economy during normal driving (driving in the combination of gasoline engine and electric motor power), frequent use of the "EV" drive mode may worsen fuel economy.

Refer to Darrell's EVNUT Page as I posted above... He has an 06 and it should be exactly the same as an 07.

    Here is Gautam's page also:

But I thought electric mode is up to 41 mph without the EV mod? So why would with the EV mod in this mode be turned off over 28 mph?

You're mistaken. MPH and KPH probably got mixed up.

I just got my EV mod from Sigma today. I'll be installing it in my 07 this weekend. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Okay then I take it we can still expect the same 41mph EV speeds but for longer distances or what?
