Fixing P0300, P0301, P0302 with MAP Swapout

    Seems like you scored a win. ;) These Prii are super sensitive when they are off kilter; and there are so many components within this air-fuel system to trip. If OBD2 codes would've triggered, they would've done so for your car long ago.

    My silver 2010 Prius @253k miles, has a notable oil blow-by & oil burning problem; most of the mix (oil, fuel, water) gets collected in my Oil Catch Can, but some of that residue still makes its way into the throttle body & chamber and dirties up the whole system along the way, to include the MAP. See below the slick and oily MAP sensor. Infrequently pulling MAP out and spraying it with MAF spray is good, but for many with a blow-by problem, its a hard to reach maintenance item.

    the cheap MAP sensor I installed did not last...got an error code a few times and will be replacing.

    UPDATE-

    252,000 miles-
    - ~100 miles & ~ 3days later OBD2 codes returned- P0300, P0301, P0302. I was driving to from work at under 40mph; I conducted a higher speed highway drive test. Seems the Prius likes highway driving over lower speed driving. There is no noticeable misfiring at highway speeds vice on backroads at <40mph.
    - i also swapped out a spare new oil catch can (OCC) to replace my old one

    255,000 miles
    - I drove >2500 miles on a recent family visit round trip to Washington DC from STL. I assumed some risk driving on those trouble misfiring codes, but felt my highway drive test confirmed plenty-- that Prius engine is ok at higher speeds.
    - I still don't know what specifically the issue is? The codes consistently point to generic misfiring & issues surrounding pistons 1/2.
    - I still do notice 1/2/3 variations of the OBD2 code (P0300, P0301, P0302) returning when i do drive at under speeds 40mph.
    - I suppose the faulty & worn piston rings have just finally met their mileage limits? Any thoughts?

    Maybe rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic? Try a leak down test; see if the head gasket’s failing.

    bad news struck this afternoon upon my return from work.
    Getting rid of Prius ASAP. Final mileage 255,780miles. I got Prius 3 yrs back at 212,000miles
    She has been a good & trusted driving partner.

    Why not get a low mileage 2015 engine? Wouldn't that be cheaper than another car?
    How is the rest of the car? In good shape?

    The car is still in good shape overall. Im def not interested in going to that next level of time/learning investment.
    As well, I am not in a rush to buy another car; I already have another nice 2010 Blue Prius w 225k miles. I will now have sold off 2:3 Prius this year-- while & silver.
