After the past 2 iterations of over the top - anime type styling? Cringe. Hopeful they fired the past design crew & toned it down imo. Crossing fingers.

I don’t see the term “Prius” in the Toyota page. More’n likely, but just saying. Torque News is clairvoyant?

    Too, a blacked-out Prius? Meh...

Hopefully they have a few other colours, lol.

It's pretty clearly a Prius taillight and hatch in the short teaser video.
But, yes. Toyota already has Nightshade editions of 10 other models, this is just...*yawn*.

I wonder if it'll drift as well as a MERCEDES AMG Black Edition?

A GR Sport Prime would be cool but sure.

Has Toyota ever given an actual reason for not offering it in the US?
Personally, I believe they feel a non-boring color would be against their image.

No but the idea is that a colour like that won’t sell well and there’s always the chance a person orders then cancels or changes colour ans the dealer is stuck with a colour that they can’t sell.

Which is how Toyota, and others, has ended up with such a lame palette of colors for their cars. There are the shades of grey, some type of red, and some type of blue. Some models will get a brown or another red or another blue or maybe a green. Of course the non-neutral colors are rare on the dealer lot, because they only want the 'safe' colors. These are cars, not houses, and changing colors in more difficult on them despite being smaller.

Should have kept the Sonic just because it was orange.

Bottom line: no 5th gen in 2022? Hopefully something of interest June 2nd.

A couple of sites are reporting that, based on Toyota tweets, it will be the U.S. introduction of the next gen 86. Since info about this has already been released in Japan, this "reveal" is not very exciting.

Prime debuted in 2017. And the buzz is virtually all future Prius will be plug-in. 2023 would be year 7 for the Prime. So maybe that’s the year?

Toyota just announced a Nightshade Special Edition of the regular Prius Liftback for the 2022 model year. Available on the FWD and AWD-e grades, the Nightshade edition comes in Midnight Black Metallic, and wait for it - Super White, and Silver Metallic. [IMG] Guess this means no new Gen V Prius for 2022. Anyone have their own Nightshade version of the PP?

kinda surprising. this may be a first, and a disappointing one at that.

I’m thinking they’re merging hybrid and hybrid plug-in versions, stalling till the Prime has gone through 6 model years. Pretty much lost interest though, sceptical they’re capable of producing an attractive car with good interior ergonomics AND a spare.

I had an orange car once - when I was VERRRRY young:

BMW are far worse than TOYOTA - I live within 10 mins walk of the BMW dealer - and as I go past, I wonder at the boring black, dark greys - and just the occasional red or white - I asked them a few years ago, and they said that certain "M" models can be ordered with special order paints - but the price wasn't encouraging. Look at this amazing variety - of black.

When I was driving home yesterday, I passed a line of traffic that was predominantly grey, one white, one silver. No colours, all greyscale.
