It SHOULD come off the sales price. I say SHOULD. Bill Kidds Toyota lied to me and said I could apply for the rebate myself later. Which IS NOT true. So after a conversation with Toyota Corp. Yada Yada Yada a $750 check will be enroute to me shortly.

My final price for my XLE w taxes is now $26,125. Plus my 850 delivery to Indiana. So $26,975 . Nice to have gotten it under 27k before the 4500 rebate

Wondering if it’s worth it to trade in my 2021 for another 2021. I cracked the windshield and put 11k miles of wear on the tires, and put a few nice pinstripes on the side courtesy of an extended off road trek at Glacier NP. I can sell to Vroom for $24k and buy another Prime for, even with high WA sales tax, about $0 net. Plus the car comes pre detailed. Decisions, decisions.

should be able to trade up to an xle and have it be 0 net with the added federal credit (if you can use it)

Carvana price compare? They were consistently highest for me, but could vary by locale, I guess.
Oh, and totally worth it, if you can net to $0 or less.

Maybe wait for the 2022 PP announcement and see if it's worth to skip the 2021 model. Tax refund won't be till next year anyway.

Heck, if it's a net zero cost why wait? Do it again next year as well. We did three years in a row and will go for four if the financial motivation is still there.

just curious if there any any tax codes that require owners to hold the car certain time to get full federal credit?

Instructions for Form 8936 (01/2021) | Internal Revenue Service
the main issue is if the IRS asked you to prove: "You acquired the vehicle for use or to lease to others, and not for resale." Buying and flipping for a profit, is close to resale use. Annually upgrading? Maybe that's personal use - maybe you 'need' a new car smell constantly - lol

For a 2020 to 2021 LE 'upgrade', I'd say "We wanted the newer upgraded safety features and android auto" - which is what we did do, after owning the 2020 for ~16 months.

Lia Toyota of Colonie NY gave a dealer discount of $2400 on the XLE and $2800 on the Limited. (Breakdown of numbers in post #4770)

Thanks for sharing. Just called them and I was told they don't have any LE or Limited in stock. Weird their website shows they have some.

Hi. I live in Virginia. Dealer in Chantilly says no Prius Primes are available in Virginia. I went to Costco auto sales and they referred me to DARCARs Toyota in Silver Springs, MD. Traded in a 2011 Prius 3 for a LXE and got a good trade in price, plus a $4500 manufacturers rebate plus about $250 discount by going through Costco.

I’ve called all the Lia dealerships. You will be lucky to get $1500ish dealer discount at this point. That was the best offer from Nick at Lia Wilbraham. I put a deposit with another dealer but would be a wash but these cars are going fast at these prices.

I just purchased a 2021 prime XLE in titanium glow two days ago at Wellesley (MA)Toyota. Traded a 2012 Prius 3. They gave me the cash back discount plus a higher value for the trade than I expected. They had more than 40 primes left when I left yesterday. Excellent salesman - Marcus Mason. I walked out happy. Felt good to talk to a salesman who knew his tech stuff. I have a big learning curve ahead of me and a lot of reading to do.
