ADAS VEHICLE ALIGNMENT?

    @Gokhan any tips on
    ADAS VEHICLE ALIGNMENT? Anyone paid for this? Firestone has an exemption on lifetime alignment with extra charge for ADAS.

    I had the Firestone lifetime four-wheel alignment on my old Corolla (RIP after the hit-and-run accident). It is indeed a lifetime free service as long as you have your car. The one-time fee wasn't that much. You can also add life-time wheel balancing, road-hazard damage, etc. on it.

    I don't know anything about the sensor and camera alignments. You can subscribe to TIS for a day to download the alignment sections of the repair manual, which I would think there are hundreds of.

    On a similar note, I read that a woman bought a lifetime free repair service (Firestone?) on a 1960ish car for like $50 when she was young, and she kept the car and used the service for more than 50 years, paying nothing!

    Snake oil? My first thought: why don’t you hear about this from Toyota dealerships. Next thought: it’s either ineffective (probably for the best), or it might royally mess something up. A proprietary system, being adjusted by a generic tire place??

    My thoughts exactly, but as with ISO specs and maintenance I would think this would be a safety feature that requires a good knowledgeable tech to avoid liability for Firestone who talks sternly on the importance on the subject. Of course they'd have to offer the service correctly. Now I had an alignment done by the dealership and just now wonder if they even considered the ADAS aspect of such when it was done.

    They have a great tool at Toyota service entry that actually checks alignment automatically. But it doesn't check the ADAS?!?!... mmm

    One step forward ideally.
