Here is the install of Modellista and Avest LED Mirror Install. The story of how I got 2 different LED Signals is that I was looking and only found Modellista LED Covers. I ordered it from Japan and while I was researching I found the Avest which was the one I wanted in the first place. So both came in from Japan and decided to install both of them on the car.

Just take whatever info you need to install the version you decide to do. My thoughts on the install is the hard part is where you put the pins into the connector where the door hinge is. Sometimes it won't slide all the way in for some odd reason. Its a frustrating time to fiddle with it and make sure the wires are good with a multimeter. It is a hassle to put the connector back into the car and then take apart again if it dosen't work.

*MAKE SURE THE PLASTIC CLIPS ARE OFF THE DOOR FRAME AND PUT BACK ON DOOR PANEL TRIM BEFORE YOU CLOSE EVERYTHING BACK UP.

Insert picks or tongue depressor in the slots to hold the tabs in open position.

    20210425_132343.jpg
Insert pry tool to pull open the mirror cover. You will need quite bit of force to get the cover off.
    20210425_144818.jpg
These 3 points with tooth picks/ tongue depressor will open the bottom cover off.

    20210425_132935.jpg
Pry the tab here to open the bottom cover open.

Install the Avest LED Signal Bottom cover and route the wires this way.
    20210425_141412.jpg
This part is for the Modellista LED Mirror Covers. Drill a small hole in the original car mirror cover to feed the wires through.

I hooked up the LED mirror cover to the wires of the Avest LED wires so it will turn on at same time.

Here is the completed assembly. At this point test to make sure all the lights are working right before you install it.

    20210425_152832.jpg
    Connect the mirror connector.

    20210425_152832.jpg 20210425_152852.jpg
Remove the rubber piece off first, then need to squeeze the 2 tabs on each side to pull the white connector out.

    20210425_153050.jpg
    20210425_153316.jpg
Then 2 bolts on the door side and pull out.

    20210425_153524.jpg
Remember the wire harness goes under the weather seal.

    20210425_153659.jpg
Remove the plastic piece to make easier to feed the wires thru.

    20210425_153706.jpg
    20210425_153937.jpg
Push black lever to separate the connector.

    20210425_153944.jpg
    20210425_154438.jpg
Feed the fish cable through ( I used a 12awg wire/ its stiff and flexible)

    20210425_154803.jpg
Hook and tape the new wires to be routed.

    20210425_154912.jpg
    Pull through.

    20210425_155023.jpg
    Out this way.

    20210425_162417.jpg
press and release this part of the plug.

    20210425_162504.jpg
With small screwdriver, pry up this lever which allows you to slide in the new wires into empty spot. When it is in all the way you will hear and feel a click. You need to pry this lever on connectors that you are working on.

    20210425_162632.jpg

**VERY IMPORTANT IS TO MATCH THE COLOR WIRES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CONNECTOR, SO WHEN YOU DO ONE SIDE, PUT THE CONNECTOR BACK IN A LITTLE AND LOOK OTHER SIDE TO FIGURE OUT WHICH SPOT TO PUT THE WIRE.

WHEN YOU ARE DONE PUTTING THE WIRES INTO THE CONNECTOR, YOU NEED TO PUSH THE LEVER BACK DOWN, THE ONE YOU PRIED UP EARLIER.

    20210425_164327.jpg
Put the black seal back on and make sure the tabs on black seal match with the connector.

    20210425_164523.jpg
    20210425_164552.jpg
Remove side trim and then the foot side panel.

    20210425_165049.jpg
Put your fish cable here thru the car frame and come through and down in the next picture.
    20210425_165504.jpg

    20210425_165344.jpg
After you hook and tape the new wires to the fish cable, feed it thru the car.

    20210425_172822.jpg
Tie up the excess wire and put some foam between the wires and the door frame to reduce vibration noise.

    20210425_210237.jpg
Right car side through hole to feed wires.

This is the connector for the puddle light install of the LED Signal Lights.

    20210427_152915.jpg
Remove the Black tape around wire harness and tap in new wires.
White wire of LED Mirror to Red wire of car and Black wire of LED Mirror to Purple wire of car.
Once done put black tape back onto the wires and reconnect.

    20210427_154606.jpg
Open the panel on the sides to expose this pipe opening and use it to run wires across to the other side of car with your fish cable.

Thanks for the write up, I have this installed as well on my 2018 i-tech, though one thing I did differently was hooking the white LEDs to the 12V interior illumination circuit, so it sort of acts as an additional driving light, and as a bonus I didn't have to go through the hassle of removing the cable gland on the door.

It would be alot easier if there was existing LED Signal Mirrors/wiring for LED Signal Mirrors but there isn't  so we have to go thru all this work. The white LEDs you can't really notice in day time, when closer to late late afternoon or early morning then its more easier.

Nicely done! Can you tell me what year and trim level this was on? I am working on a different style side blinker. Have them installed, wires ran just not tapped into anything yet. Looking to tap into the turn signals this weekend and can use all the pictures of which wires to tap. Hoping mine on a 2020 Limited match your pictures once I get a good look.

Looking to order the Arrow kit for my '21 Prime Limited and was wondering if you installed it with or without the switches that controls the sequence and such. If you did, I'm assuming you installed it in one of the open empty button slots on your XLE? All the buttons slots are taken with the Prime limited and I wanna know if it's possible to do so without the switches that come with the kit while functioning as a driving light, non-sequence blinker, and be a puddle light when opening the doors?

Yes you do install with the switches but pretty much you set to sequential or flashing and have it tucked away. I tucked mines in passenger side of the tube that runs across the dashboard.

it looks nice but it dosen't have turn signal in it. If I found the Arrow signal lights first I would not have gotten the Modellista as it is a premium price for the part.

Just got my lights in a few days ago and am attempting to install the Driver side. Snaking the wires is not fun. Anyhow, I've noticed in the pictures where you tapped into the main box. (Green into Red) & (Red into Yellow). Can you explain what you did with the black wire that is attached to this 3-wire set? I know the Yellow/Pink/Purple wire set will connect into the two switches and the Black/White wire set taps into the wires on the driver side pillar. Also, there is a green Fuse that came with the package. Can you also explain where I should be connecting it.

Sorry, I'm not an electrical expertise and the instructions that came with the lights isn't much helpful to me either lol.

Sorry for late response. The black wire that is with the red/green wires will be attached to metal/ under washer/bolt head for the ground. If you are talking about the black wire with the white wire then black wire is for the puddle light and that runs up the driver side pillar /under the air bag next to the windshield. It hooks up to the purple wire and the white will hook up to the red.

And very important note is make sure everything works before you push/put the white connectors (the coming out of the door and one going into the car frame) back in, as it is hassle to pull them back out.

I was able to find the bolt that you were talking about and connected the black wire into it. The signal and puddle lights work perfectly. The only problem I have currently is the green wire. I am assuming that that wire is for the driving lights? I connected it to the Red wire as in the picture for the Driver's side. It is still not lighting up when I turn on my lights. Am I suppose to attach the fuse wire to the green wire as well?

Can you take a pic of the green fuse wire you are talking about ? If the green wire is hooked up to the red wire the white DRL light should come on as soon as you turn on ignition. So niether side white lights come on ? Double check your Black switch/button and press it to turn on and off the DRL. While you are at it, decide what position you want the signal light to be (either sequential signal or constant signal)

Do you have a multimeter to check if the green wire is getting 12 volts ?

So I was messing with it last night and was able to get the passenger driving light to turn on. Passenger side went so fast since I knew what to do. I'm getting ~13v from that red wire on the driver side with the ignition on. I'm thinking one of the pins is not seated properly in one of the connections so I'll be checking the connections going backwards again tonight. Hopefully I'll get this ironed out. Thanks for the quick response.

Wow thanks for this write up! I was literally going through this exact same process for wiring my Silk Blaze Wing Mirror Blinker kit. Just got the driver's side done and fully functional.

I didn't have extra long wire to complete the passenger side blinker/mirror yet. Can I ask, what size crimps did you use in order to re-use the OEM firewall to door connector?

    upload_2021-10-2_21-23-53.png

I instead choose to drill a small hole in the OEM connect as circled in red over here.

    upload_2021-10-2_21-24-48.png

What size were these crimps from this side???

Thank you so much for this process!!! I was not as detailed in my photo taking for my build. (First time routing electrical in the interior.)

It should be long enough to run both sides, one side/set of wire is longer than the other. I didn't realize till it was already put in, but I think the longer end goes on the passenger side not that it matters to me as I ended up hiding the switches anyway.

If anything cut the original wires you want to extend somewhere half way and connect/crimp the new extended wire in between. Not sure on wire gauge, probably ~22 gauge wire

Source for them? Even if a Japanese language website that's OK. If I can't read it well enough then my wife can help!
