The other night my brake light, ABS and traction control lights all came on intermittently. Causing some issues with the brakes in stopping. It was manageable but as the warning lights went on and off, the stopping power switched up. Eventually all of the lights stayed illuminated constantly, which is in a weird way, safer for driving.

Along with this, I noticed that the cruise control wouldn't work and the battery was losing charge. So, I remembered that 2 years ago, my rear drivers side wheel bearing had gone bad and I had this same issue. So I went to my mechanic this morning and had the codes read and the passenger side wheel bearing is bad, or has debris lodged in it as the readout said. Either way, I'm getting a new wheel bearing. Hopefully it fixes the problem like last time I had this issue.

It's a 2012 prius c with 170,000 miles. Just replaced the battery recently and haven't really done much else to it over the years. Just wanted to share this info for those who have all of their brake lights come on and the traction acting weird. Figured it might help someone. I'll let everyone know next week if the problem is fixed with the new bearing.

Better than hoping, ask the car why those warning lights are on.

If you don't have a scan tool to retrieve the trouble codes, you can search this forum regarding a jumper wire and counting the light blinks to get the codes.

    I'm not hoping, hopeful.

What kind of 12v did you buy? If you bought a yellow top that may be the source of the problem as Optima re-sells defective batteries because they don't care if they scam their customers.

Beyond that, using Dr. Prius app via a Bluetooth OBD2 reader will help you read the codes that made the dash lights come on and then we can help you fix specific things. Here's buyer's guide: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus

Why would a rear bearing issue cause the battery (hybrid or 12V?) to drain? I had a rear bearing go out in our Gen 3 on a huge road trip and drove it for a couple thousand miles back home with no issues other than lots of extra noise. I actually thought it was an issue with the new tires we had put on just before the trip.
