    Hi there,
I've been trying to replace the rear engine mount on my 2012 Prius.
Loosened all the nuts and bolts. Had to use a really long extension for the bolt that goes sideways through the mount.
However, I was unable to remove the mount since there just wasn't enough clearance in any direction to get it out.
In the Toyota repair manual, removing the mount is only mentioned in the process of removing the whole engine, so that wasn't really helpful.
I found this TSB 0204-11 https://priuschat.com/attachments/t-sb-0204-11-pdf.33889/ that states you basically just have to unscrew the old mount and put in the new one... no extra steps mentioned. So I'm a bit confused why that didn't work.
If anybody has replaced their rear engine mount, any hints on how you did it would be greatly appreciated.

    Christian

Getting it out is a lot easier than getting it back in (without removing engine). I remember having to take apart the engine mount (I think it's in 2 pieces) and then wiggling it through the gaps. It was a royal pain

I did this job recently, it was a pain - but only because I was trying too hard. ;)

In summary, the TSB is correct.

The trick is to assemble the rear mount and bracket together on the bench, install the center bolt, but leave the center bolt loose. DO NOT remove the side engine mount; leaving this on is critical for the powertrain to be angled properly. Wrestle the rear engine mount in. If needed, remove the three fasteners for the front engine mount to give the powertrain more play.

Glad to hear that it can be done without removing the engine.
But how did you access the bolts that hold the bracket to the transmission? Aren't they blocked when the engine mount and center bolt is installed?

    For the records:
Finally got it replaced with some help. Here is how:
    - Remove front left wheel for better access to center bolt.
    - Support engine/transmission from below.
    - Using ratchet with extensions and a flexible joint, remove 17mm center bolt (insert from front left wheel side).
    - Remove the 2 bolts and 2 screws that hold the engine mount.
    - Move engine mount a bit out of the way.
    - Remove the four 14mm bolts that hold the bracket between mount and engine. These are a bit hard to reach. For one you will need a long flexible extension. For the others use ring wrenches.
    - Remove bracket.
    - Remove engine mount.
    - Assembly in reverse order. Insert two or three of the 14mm bolts before tightening them to get the bracket properly aligned.

Thank you for the step by step, because I have been able to find a video or anything else on how to replace the rear mount.
