What does your hybrid battery reconditioning setup look like?

I don't do it for a living and only drive cars, not tinker too much with them. I went with the Prolong Deluxe Reconditioning package at hybridautomotive.com

It's very simple to use once the harness is installed. The harness stays installed so the battery gets reconditioned while in the car and the user just swaps between the charger and discharger. It's expensive but not too much if shared between users, particularly if they live in the same area.

I used mine to keep a weak battery pack going for over three years. I replaced the battery before it failed when we moved out here to the desert. The temperature is too hot to use it a lot of the time. In the meantime, battery pack replacements dropped enough in price to offset the Prolong purchase price. I was lucky.

Since then I loaned it to a Priuschat member in San Diego CA. All she had to do was buy a harness for her car and her brother-in-law installed it. She's kept her 2005 Prius running well for the last 2 years with it and is still on her original battery. She's about ready to get a new car; she spends a lot of time driving all over the West and I think she's got between 300,000 and 400,000 miles on it. I'll get the Prolong system back from her in a couple of months.

 

Definitely a mess of wires.
I wound up standing the board up to the left of the battery and standing the battery on end for space savings.
Since These chargers have regenerative discharging, my only power consumption from the grid was ~3 amps from an imax b6ac to keep the 12v battery I used as a power source topped up.
With this set up I could do a decently slow charge cycle and still complete the whole battery in 7 days.
