Z chains

They worked fine on my Civic's 195/60-r14 Dunlop tires.

I'll buy some to try on the Prius maybe next year. Answering that the product works, just not yet on the Prius.

As a runner I wear a similar type product on my running shoes sometimes in the winter when there are icy conditions. They work great and I bet the Z-chains will also work good. Living in Colorado, and with my new 2007 Prius just arriving a couple of weeks ago, I have been thinking about chains for my car. I think I'll order them (they have them for pre-order at Amazon) and give them a try.

Incidentally, anyone else who wants to order the correct part number for the 2007 Touring Edition is SZ-123.

Yikes!

The spiders and Flex trax are really expensive. On Amazon the Z-Chains are only 69.00

 

Could someone please post a link for these?? if these are the ones that are easy to put on and take off, rather than link the regular chains, I'm very interested, but a link would be great assistance.

 

Has anyone used any of these chains or substitutes on a Prius? I'm a little wary about clearance and any risk of damage to the body, wheelwell, or suspension.

I also imagine these would help greatly on roads that are truly covered in snow or ice but fear that they would be a real liability on clear spots of dry or wet roads. (I've also used crampons while hiking and running but would hate to use them playing basketball. :blink: )

Just received my new Z-chains from Amazon. This week I'm going to try them out and see how they work. The Zchains are built to work with very tight body clearances. They are well pacaked and come in avery nice rip-stop nylon bag. The cains look bomb proof. and I like the fact that the way you mount them, you don not have to lay them down and back up over them to mount--they swivel in the middle wich should make putting them on a snap.\
