    Hello everyone,

I have a 2012 Prius Plug-In (56k) and a Service Soon type message appeared on the dashboard.
No engine lights themselves are appearing.

Had the ODB scanned by AutoZone which printed out a sheet w/the following information:
    • Power Train System (x icon)
    • Anti-Lock Braking System (x icon)
    • Service Interval Light (check mark icon)

Most Likely Solution:Anti-Lock Braking System - Replace Battery

    ---
    Diagnostic Troube Codes
    • Power Train System Secondary DTC - no code
    • Anti-Lock Braking System. C1241
Low battery positive voltage or abnormally high batter positive voltage.

    ---------
Overall looks like it would be the battery, right?
Just so happens that I had the battery itself inspected about two months back by Toyota where the battery was purchased and it was returned with flying colors....battery in great shape.

    ----------
Anyone run into similar situations? I have an annual inspection soon and would like this resolved prior to getting the official inspection. Any feedback much appreciated.

service soon message comes on before maintenance required so you’re correct about the message that popped up. Gives you time to put a plan on motion before the required message, or hone down your procrastination.

thanks for that. maintenance required is just a mileage reminder that it is time for your next 5,000 mile service.
you have to look at your maintenance schedule and follow the guide for what it needs at your mileage.
can be as little as tire rotation and a few inspections.

ignore the obd codes, you need tech stream for good codes, but only if you get an actual trouble light on the dash.

there's nothing required for your annual inspection

Don’t let that service reminder become a taskmaster. You can reset it whenever you want. It’s just a simple odo counter. Canadian Prius don’t even have the service reminder…

Familiarize yourself with the maintenance schedule. A lot of it is miles OR months, whichever comes first. Also read up here; there’s two or three extras worth doing periodically:

    1. transaxle fluid replacement
    2. Brake fluid replacement
    3. Exhaust Gas Recirculation and intake cleaning

something that IS in the schedule, but seems to be ignored, is an in-depth brake inspection, every 30k miles or 3 years. It isn’t well described in the schedule, to be fair.

I use the 5000-mile oil change interval, so I for one welcome my in-dash taskmaster. Saves me from having to do anything else to remember it.

Yep just a oil change reminder. If you do every 5K then time to take it in. If you do every 10k or just want to do that this time, reset it by:

    1. Make sure the odometer is on trip A
    2. turn off the car
    3. Start the car while holding down the mph/kph button. You should see it clear in a few seconds.

For me six months governs: mid April and mid October, oil/filter changed. I better not disclose miles…

no cigars. A progress bar will flow from left to right, release mph km button once progress bar completes.
