I have a 2014 Prius C with 92,000 miles whose driver and front passenger door locks failed (manual lock button works but electronic buttons and keys do nothing) about 2 years ago. I’ve been putting off getting it fixed because the mechanic said the actuators had failed, and quoted about $600 a door to fix them. I’ve been researching doing it myself, and I followed YouTube videos to put a new motor in the passenger door actuator. Everything went great until I got everything put back together and….no change. I took everything apart again just to make sure I hadn’t done anything stupid like put the motor in upside down, but it was in correctly. Just in case, I switched it out for the second new motor I had bought and got it all back together again. Still no dice. I used the motors linked on the 2014 Prius C YouTube video, so they should have worked.

Anyone have any ideas about what could have gone wrong? I’m thinking about maybe trying to just replace the entire actuator instead of just the motor, but if the new motor didn’t work, is it possible that the actuator isn’t even the problem?

Update: this morning I tackled the drivers door, and changing the motor DID solve the problem for that side. I used the same new motor that didn’t work in the passenger door, so that definitely wasn’t the issue. I’m lost for what to try next on the passenger door!
