Found this on the NAPA website. In 2015, I paid $15 a gallon for it. Toyota SLCC2 coolant is now around $30 a gallon. Toyota doesn't make their own coolant. Others make it and put it into Toyota branded bottles.

I can't confirm it, but Zerex Valvoline might even make it for them. From the Zerex MSDS, it is HOAT coolant.

This is a good deal, thanks. A few years ago I use to buy the Valvoline branded Asian coolant from Walmart for $12 a gallon. This shows up for only $11 now at Napa.

Alternatively the dealer SLLC stuff has gotten a little cheaper. Around $17 online price from local dealership. But when you need a few gallons, the savings add up. And Napa gives you AAA discounts too

Since Amazon (and other sellers too) may serve up different prices to different customers or regions, for market segmentation purposes, could you include the price you see into your text, not merely a link that the seller can change?

The PriusChat post image is showing me $18.92, while the direct Amazon page is showing me $19.07.
    $20.99 in my region.

Then there is Camelcamelcamel's price history:

    $10.99 here in South Carolina.

SLCC is specified for all Toyota vehicle since 2004, so it is a good long term purchase in quantity.

Gen 3 uses two gallons for an engine and inverter coolant change.

Regular coolant changes help prevent corrosion damage to the radiator and heater core.

Just bought a gallon of 00272-SLLC2 at the dealer yesterday for an undiscounted $22.

    That's Amazon. It's $10.99 a gallon at NAPA.

I still prefer $10.99 a gallon for Zerex Asian Red at NAPA. Half the price of the Toyota.

    No.

And yes it is safe to add HOAT to POAT but as far as I know not the other way around so thank you for sharing.

But unlike WS I can see an obvious difference in the formulation, in this case with or without Phosphate. Does the phosphate prevent cavitation like Silicate in Euro formulas? Yes I believe it does as that's the purpose. Does HOAT have an equivalent? I don't know. But Peak does back their Global Lifetime (HOAT I believe) with $....

The back of the Zerex jug states that it is a P-HOAT coolant, free of silicates.

The default NAPA store it gives me shows $20.99:

    upload_2021-6-24_23-47-17.png

But selecting other locations, I now see $10.99 at plenty of stores, just not at the default store it picked for me.

Market segmentation, or just a data error this time?

Some NAPA stores are franchises whose owners can set price as they please I guess. (There's one in Pasadena that I was looking into here near me)...

It's NOT the same as the Toyota WS.
WHY risk the chance of damaging the waterpump, inverter pump, and possibly the engine and inverter,
just to say a few dollars?

If you change it every 50,000 miles, how many years is that? 3, on average? Some more, some less.
The cost difference between the Toyota parts and aftermarket parts, for most parts, is just a few dollars.
Hardly worth the risk of damage, at least to me.

Personally, since I order from Rock Auto semi-frequently, I just purchase the Pentosin Pentofrost A4 for about $12-13 a gallon and let them ship it to me. I keep 4 gallons on the shelf ready to go. I like to keep it all Pink.

I also personally love NAPA. I've had really good luck with their sales. I like the Gold series filters and oil.

The Zerex Asian Red is actually pink. In the overflow tank, you can't tell the difference.

On the WS, I'll stay with Toyota.

As far as coolant, oil and oil filters, I'll use aftermarket, as long as it meets industry certification tests. There is a long list of J.I.S. and other manufacturer's standards that the Zerex has official certification for.
