thanks, i forgot to put the source to the statement (i thought i did). i guess i probably posted it before the first cup of coffee.

the whole point of my post was to point out that now ARB is saying 85000 stickers, without mentioning any restriction on the available time. and DMV SPU was saying there are continuing issuing stickers.

I'm thinking of buying a 2007 Prius. Does anyone know if there is a specific phone number at the Cailifornia DMV to call to find out how many HOV stickers are still available?

Slightly off topic, is the KBB trade-in-value the same as the wholesale price? Dealers kept refering to wholesale price instead of trade-in value when a I ask about trading in my car. Making me wonder if there is a difference.

I purchased a prius on 9.26.06. Based on posts in this forum, sent in the paper work w/out having received plates. On Oct 9 received a denial from DMV stating "no plate information". Resent Oct 10 w/ plate info, they still haven't cashed the check. This is in San Francisco.

Sent application on Oct. 4, but check still hasn't been cashed. Does that mean this year's allotment of stickers has run out and the rest of us will have to wait until '07?

I sent in my application on Sept. 27 and the check was cashed on Oct. 11. Going by the dates some people have listed I .....should.... get my stickers this week sometime, I hope.......... Either way they should be on there way.

I just called, again. I sent my application on the 7th. This time the lady who answered the phone asked for my license plate number. But She didn't provide much specific information about my case. She said it would be probably another week until they cash my check. But they're still issuing the stickers.

We just bought our Prius on Sunday. What packet? How do you get the packet? I live in CA. Can someone give me the basic low down on what we need in order to travel in the fast lane during carpool only times? I will be watching for your craft project results and resulting instructions! I agree the stickers I have seen are horrible looking.

Here is another look at access to HOV lanes ...

The application is here, on the DMV Web site. It's an Acrobat file. Print it out and complete it except for the license plate number. You will need to wait until you find out what your license plate number is. When you determine that, complete the form and send it in with your $8 fee.

Note: since you do not live in one of the nine Bay Area counties, you do NOT need to obtain a hybrid-account FasTrak transponder account first. Those of us in the Bay Area need to do that.

from Fran Pavley (the author of the original HOV CA bill)

Subject: Assemblymember Fran Pavley's HOV update

    Dear Friends:

This is to update you on the status of the stickers that will allow qualifying hybrid vehicles to use California's HOV (carpool) lanes. The DMV expects to have issued all 75,000 stickers authorized by my bill, AB 2628, very shortly. However, new legislation passed this year authorized issuance of another 10,000 stickers.

The roughly 2,000 applications currently pending will continue to be processed, along with new applications. Stickers beyond the 75,000 initially authorized cannot be sent until the new legislation becomes effective, which is January 1, 2007. The new legislation also extends this program through the year 2011.

    Sincerely,

    Fran Pavley

    Assemblymember, 41st District

As regards timing: It took DMV 18 days to cash my check for the stickers. Wrote check on Oct 11, DMV Received on Oct 12 (Thanks FedEx!), and my bank shows it cleared on Oct. 30.

Still waiting for actual stickers, but believe this must be a hopeful sign.

    Kind of nostalgic -

A couple of months ago, I checked this forum religiously. Now it's interesting to note how some get a little anxious and there is not even a deadline anymore.

    Good luck,

Yes people are getting anxious because after the 75,000 run out - they have to wait until Jan for the next batch of 10,000 to become available......

My check cleared 10/25, and I got my stickers yesterday, 11/2.
I had sent in the paperwork the first week of October.

    From the DMV:

    http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/decal.htm

The original 75,000 Clean Air Vehicle Stickers that VC §5205.5 allowed for hybrid vehicles have been issued. As of January 1, 2007, the law will change to allow an additional 10,000 stickers to be issued to hybrids. The department will continue to accept applications for qualifying hybrids; however, the stickers will not be issued until the new law takes effect on January 1, 2007.

Recent legislation has extended the Clean Air Vehicle sticker program. All Clean Air Vehicle stickers will expire January 1, 2011, unless the law authorizing their use is extended beyond that date.

Thanks for the info. However, the post earlier than yours (ST8) claimed that he/she receive HOV sticker number 81000. Does that mean DMV actually already issuing the 10,000 HOV which is supposed to be effective for next year?
