Sadly just blew one of the four Michelin Defender tires on my 2014 Prius when I parked near the city temporary piping and must have rubbed the metal piece on the coupling.

What do folks recommend for replacement tires that won't break the bank but still will give me performance? I'm in MA so an All Season is needed (I don't have storage for snow tires). More of my driving is local but I do take the car out for a good highway spin...

Michelins and Nokians are $115-$125 per tire.... I do not have a Costco Membership or BJs membership. We have SullivanTire, TownFaire, and such around these parts. A mechanic at a local garage claims a lot of no-name tires could be good choices and are much more reasonably priced. MMMmmmm???? I've always bought name-brands with all prior cars. Car has over 100K on it and the remaining tires have probably another 15-20K on them. I read somewhere that people are also recommending Continental Pure Contact - but I can't find anything listed at tire stores - maybe people meant Pro instead of Pure?

Thank you ever so much for your recommendations. Need to get the Mickey Mouse tire off ASAP!

some rave about general altimax, idk. i have michelin energy saver. great tire, but not cheap.

i wouldn't buy a no name tire unless it had a money back satisfaction guarantee

I like my 215/70R15 Yokohama Geolandar A/T 015's. But it's better to have the 1.5" lift. Also going to lose some mpg. I know for sure don't buy cheap Douglas tires from Walmart. It's what the dealer put on the car when I got it and they really sucked in any kind of rain. Now it's very hard to spin my wheels. I was looking at Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires at some point. In the original Prius tire size. I think I concluded that is was one of the better tires going though all the tirerack benchmarks. Not sure about LRR or mpg with them.
